In the competition of the highest “technology” and the strongest “competitiveness” ... Students of the Egyptian Russian University get first place in “VALEO” competition

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that, motivated by the keenness to build strong and distinguished academic relations with major international companies, and to support the scientific energies at the university level, students of the “Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering Program” at the university’s Faculty of Engineering have participated in the competition of Valeo Company, titled “VALEO Tech Talents Demo.”

 

Their graduation project won first place for “Designing and Implementing the Third Level of Intelligent Self-Driving in an Electric Car.” Students from the faculties of “Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, as well as Computers and Information” from many Egyptian universities took part in the competition … Dr. Sherif pointed out that the participation in the competition was the fruit of the support provided by Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.

 

In the same context, Dr. Alaa Mohamed Al-Batsh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the ERU, explained that this competition is considered the largest, strongest and most competitive among the specialized technological ones in this field. He noted that 511 graduation projects participated in the competition and they were filtered through 3 stages: the first to 66 graduation projects, then to 60 graduation projects, and after that they were filtered to 33 graduation projects to participate in the final filtration for choosing the best 5 student projects based on conducting a practical demonstration in addition to testing all the functions and characteristics of the smart car designed by the students.

 

For his part, Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Al-Ramsisy, Supervisor of the graduation project and lecturer in the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at ERU, said that all student projects were evaluated by a team of specialized arbitrators from “Valeo International Company.” The “students of the ERU’s Mechatronics Engineering Team” were announced as winners of first place. He explained that the ranking of the winning teams was as follows:

1- Egyptian Russian University

2- Cairo University

3- Helwan University

4- Zagazig University

5- Alexandria University

 

It is worth mentioning that the project was implemented by a team of undergraduate students from the Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering Program, namely: Abdel Rahman Abdel Fattah Al Rashidy, Ibrahim Al-Sayed Al-Sayed, Mohsen Mohamed, Rawda Abd-el-Khaleq, Dina Mohamed Fouad, Hossam Hassan, Mahmoud Zalat, Shorouk Wael, Aya Abdallah, Nesma Ramadan and Maryam Abd-el-Rahman.
