The Egyptian Russian University, in cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, hosts the activities of the Children's University Program
Dr. Sherif Fakhry, President of the Egyptian Russian University, declared that the university hosted the activities of the Children’s University program, in cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, within the framework of the country’s interest in developing children’s capabilities and urging them to work and innovate in order to implement “Egypt Vision 2030”.
He added that the university administration was keen on participating in the Children’s University Program to achieve the university’s plan in community participation and environmental development. He explained that the Children’s University program is one of the Academy of Scientific Research’s projects under the patronage of Dr. Mahmoud Saqr – President of the Academy, and supervised by Dr. Gina Elfeki – the Executive Director of the Child University at the Academy.
For her part, Dr. Hana Abdel Rahman, the pioneer of student activities at the university, confirmed that the university administration has participated in the Children’s University program since 2019, and has received a number of students. She noted that an inauguration of the program and a reception for students have been held to introduce them to the university, its faculties and methods of study. Moreover, the project stopped for two years in all universities due to the circumstances of the Corona pandemic and then it was resumed again to complete the previous stage. The university participated in the new stage of the program.
The leader of student activities at the university added that the university campus received the children participating in the previous stage at the Children’s university. Furthermore, Dr. Noha Mohamed Ali, the lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering at the Egyptian Russian University, introduced the basics of physics and mathematics to the students through using various interesting activities to deliver them the information easily.
In the same context, Dr. Heba Abustate, General Coordinator of the Children’s University, explained that the Children’s University includes various departments such as health, science, physics, mathematics, entrepreneurship, Egyptology, fine arts, computer science, energy and environmental sciences. She noted that children can start studying at the Children’s University from the age of 9 years to 15 years. The process of studying there is divided into two stages: the first stage includes two levels in which the student studies all specializations and the second stage, which extends for four years, in which the student specializes based on his inclinations. It is worth noting that studying at the Children’s University is free of charge, as the university and the academy bear the full tuition fees.
The General Coordinator of the Children’s University indicated that the university was keen on obtaining the greatest benefit for students and creating a suitable environment for them by providing suitable rooms for explanation and working in groups to train them on teamwork and presentation of the scientific material in more than one way, such as using interactive screens, displaying videos, and practical application of information through practical activities.
Dr. Dr. Heba Abustate pointed out that on the second day, Dr. Mona Moussa, a lecturer in the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Management, Professional Technology and Computers at the Egyptian Russian University, tackled topics related to developing creativity, new ideas, brainstorming and various activities. The students interacted with her during the discussions and activities that showed their interest in this field. .
The General Coordinator of the University of the Child announced that the process of teaching the rest of the fields for the previous stage has been being completed and the study for the new stage will be started during the second half of the academic year and during the end of the year vacation.
