100 years since the discovery of Tutankhamun tomb The Egyptian Russian University celebrates the golden king Tutankhamun….video.

The Faculty of Fine Arts at the Egyptian Russian University organized a celebration under the slogan “100 years since the discovery of the golden tomb of the Egyptian king Tutankhamun.” The celebration was held with the support of Dr. Mohamed kamal Mustafa, Head of the Board of Trustees and under the auspices of Dr. Sherif Fakhry, the president of the university and in the presence of Dr. Essam Khamis, Vice President of the university, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Orabi, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University. The celebration began with a presentation of music by youth scouts led by the dentist Marco Fouad, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine. The celebration took place in the presence of the deans of the university’s faculties and a group of faculty members, and guests of honor from the figures of  the artistic and cultural movement. They are: the distinguished artist, Dr. Hassan Abd-Elfatah, Former Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Luxor and Emeritus Professor of photography at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, Dr. Ahmed Abdel- Aziz, Head of the Sculpture Department, Former and Emeritus Professor of Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, Dr. Salah El-Meligy, Former Head of the Plastic Arts Sector and Emeritus Professor of Graphics at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, and Founder of the Graphic Department at Al- Zaytouna University in Jordan, Dr. Fikry Hassan, Director of the Cultural Heritage Program at the French University and Professor of Archeology at London University, Dr. Hassan Metwally, Dean of the College of Art and Design at the British University, novelist and journalist Hala El- Badry, and the artist and journalist Buthaina Kamel. Dr. Sherif Fakhry, president of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that the “Faculty of Fine Arts” at the university organized a major celebration on campus on the occasion of the passage of more than (100) years since the discovery of the tomb of “King Tutankhamun” in the year (1922), which is considered one of the most important and greatest archaeological discoveries ever. He also pointed out that aim of this event is to celebrate our Egyptian identity and history that our ancestors left us; To be a catalyst for research and reflection of one of the most important civilizations that have passed through human history. In the same context, prof. Dr. Essam Khamis. Confirmed that the celebration included a large group of senior contemporary artists who participated in more than (100) works of art, including: “Sculpture, Photography, Painting, and Luminous Painting”, through which experiences were transferred to the students. He revealed that this celebration contributes within the framework of the propaganda campaign launched by the state in promoting various tourist destinations in light of Egypt’s possession of about two- thirds of the world’s antiquities. For his part, prof. Dr. Mohamed Orabi, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University, welcomed the attendees and invited the speakers to deliver introductory and educational lectures within the scientific symposium that included artistic, historical, and philosophical fields, in an invitation to spread knowledge about archeological excavations, the history of Egypt and the philosophical thought of the ancient Egyptians, and encourage young researchers to pay attention to the history of ancient and modern Egypt. The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University added that a model of the golden mask statue of king Tutankhamun was executed in a large size, under the supervision of Dr. Gerges Saeed, professor of Sculpture at the university. Another two- meter high mask of the thinker and philosopher Akhenaten, the owner of the idea of monotheism was also excited, to refer to the cultural and cognitive aspect included in the event. He revealed that the exhibition that was held on the sidelines of the event included the display of ten sculptural works, all of which were inspired by the ancient Egyptian cultural heritage. On the same context, Dr. Safia Al-Qabani, Advisor to the president of the Egyptian Russian University of Visual Arts explained that the university aims from this celebration to be a beacon of culture and arts in its geographical surroundings; In order to continue the advancement of society and the preservation of the Egyptian identity, to provide distinguished and diverse activities for students, and to increase cultural and knowledge exchange inside and outside the university campus. On the same topic, Dr. Fikry Hassan, delivered his lecture about the discovery of the tomb, mentioning some of the most important and prominent Egyptologists and their perseverance to achieve leadership, namely “Ahmed Kamal and Selim Hassan” In the same context, Dr. Hussein Al-Shabouri, during his speech at the celebration, referred to the shape of the cemetery and some of the problems and factors that negatively affected the cemetery, explaining how innovative solutions were found to solve these problems. From her part, the novelist, Hala El-Badry, talked about the succession of the invasions of Egypt and the attempt to change the cultural heritage of the Egyptians and how the Egyptian heritage withstood and face these invasions. In a related context, Dr. Ahmed Abd El-Aziz, Emeritus Professor of sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, praised the Egyptian Russian University for holding such event, and that the success of the celebration was due to the efforts exerted by those who are in charge of scientific leadership in the “Faculty of Fine Arts” at the university. Then Dr. Mohamed Orabi, Dean of the Faculty presented the shield of the celebration to Dr. Sherif Fakhry, president of the university who in turn honored the guests of honor. Then the guests went to inaugurate the exhibition “Ma’at Pharaonic Atmosphere”within the activities of the celebration. The guests of honor were the artists: “Dr. Hassan Abd El-Fatah, Dr. Ahmed Abd El-Aziz, Dr. Salah El- Meligy.” It is worth mentioning, that a group of senior artists participated with their artworks in the exhibition and they were:Dr. Mohamed Orabi, Dr. Hassan Fadawi, Dr. Omar Abd El-Zaher, Dr. Mohamed Thabet Badari, Dr. Gerges Saeed, Dr. Hanan Samir, Dr. Sherif Shoukry, Dr. Shaima Baghdadi, the artist Ahmed Eid, the artist Ashraf Al- Sawini, the artist Iyad Orabi, the artist Hossam El- Din Mostafa, and the artist Michael Wahid. It is worth noting that the exhibition included a composite work entitled “Time Capsule.” The idea of the work is attributed to Dr. Mohamed Orabi, sculptured by Dr. Gerges Saeed, and executed by a team of professors and students of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Egyptian Russian University. It is worth noting that Dr. Sherif Shoukry, participated in the exhibition by implementing an interactive artwork that he used as visual trick in a dark room, and added to it the possibility of moving the work with an electric motor through the audience, as the work appears in the form of a well or an underground tunnel through an upper circular shape that appears in its surrounding walls with symbols and multiple signs of many cultures that the earth contains, including the key to life to denote all forms of civilizations and cultures. The celebration also included a competition among university students, in which students from the faculties of “Al-Alsun, Engineering, Oral and Dental Medicine, and Fine Arts” participated in a total (40) works of art. The works of the participating students were evaluated and displayed within the activities of the celebration. The names of the students who won the competitions were announced as follows: 1) Photo Competition: – The student Reem Mahmoud Mustafa from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the “First” award. – The student Menna Allah Wardani from the Faculty of Engineering, the”Firs t Repeat” award. – The student Nour Sayed from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the “Second” award. – The student Afnan Fathi Mohamed from the Faculty of Al – Alsun, the “Third” award. 2) Advertising Competition: – The two students, Khadijah Mohamed and Ruba Riyad from the Faculty of Fine Arts, won the “First” award. – The student Ahmed Hatem from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the “First Repeat” award. 3) Multimedia Competition: – The student Mariam Wael from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the “First” award. 4) Special Award in the “Relief Sculpture” Competition: – The student Tabark Husseiny from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the “First” award. 5) Media Competition: – The student Nada Mohamed from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the “First “.
