The Egyptian Russian University’s Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine organizes a medical convoy for schoolchildren
Within the framework of the university’s role and responsibilities in serving the community and the surrounding environment, Prof. Khaled Tawfiq, Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine at the Egyptian Russian University, announced that a medical and awareness convoy was organized in a mobile dental clinic for “Tahya Misr Preparatory School” in Badr City to treat children with problems in mouth and teeth; (115) students have been examined and treated and a number of these cases have been transferred to the faculty’s clinics to complete the necessary treatment. It is worth mentioning that the convoy was sponsored by Prof. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Nabi, President of the University, with the contribution of Professor Ikram Mohamed, Secretary General of the University, and in cooperation with the Educational Administration of Badr and Al Shorouk Cities.
Moreover, the Dean mentioned that this medical convoy comes within the framework of the university’s Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine role in community participation and effective positive community service, providing medical and awareness services to the area surrounding the university, and joint cooperation between the faculty and the Ministry of Health and Population. He explained that around (350) students were educated about the importance of maintaining oral and dental health, the correct way to brush their teeth, and the etiquette of coughing and sneezing to avoid spreading the infection among students at school.
Furthermore, Prof. Amani Amer, Director of Clinics at the Faculty and Head of the Convoy, clarified that a team of distinguished intern dentists, a number of students in the Scientific Society of the Faculty and a number of members of the nursing staff participated in the convoy. She noted that the convoy comes within the faculty’s community participation program and the role of the university in community service.
The Director of the Clinics of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine thanked Dr. Walid Hassan, Head of the Central Department of Dentistry at the Ministry of Health and Population, the participants from the Department for their presence and sending two mobile dental clinics, the school principal, Mr. Refaat Abu Al-Magd, as well as the school staff for their assistance in executing the work successfully. Last but not least, she thanked Dr. Nahawand Thabet for allowing the cooperation with Unilever Company, represented by Ms. Mona Abdo, and in the presence of the “Signal” team, as they distributed toothpaste tubes to (500) students.
