ERU Communication Engineering Students Displaying their Project for Location Determination without Using GPS

For encouraging students in scientific research and innovation, and for opening the venue to participate with their creative ideas; and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Alaa El-Batsh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, senior students in Communication Engineering discussed their graduation projects.
One of the significant projects presented addressed ‘Location Determination Without Using GPS’. It’s known that GPS is used for determining location, but it requires internet or a network connected to the internet and doesn’t function without it. Consequently, it can’t operate in internet-free environments or uninhabited areas like deserts, and it also doesn’t work efficiently in enclosed spaces. This led to the project idea, where students invented a device that works efficiently in enclosed spaces without internet or a communication network. The device is characterized by its small size and sends signals continuously without time intervals, contributing to target tracking. This project has numerous applications in medical and construction fields.
The discussion and evaluation panel included faculty members from the university’s Communication Engineering Department, and externally, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hussein, President Consultant of the Maritime Academy for Education and Director of the Maritime Academy’s Alamein branch.
The project was supervised by Dr. Tamer Saleh, Lecturer in the Communication Engineering Department.
