Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the “Architecture” program at the ERU’s Faculty of Engineering has obtained accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education “NAQAAE”, which was decided by the Authority’s Board of Directors this month. Dr. Sherif added that this step came with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Al-Sayed Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.

The ERU President stated that granting accreditation to the “Architectural Engineering” program came as a culmination of the efforts of the work team of the “Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center” at the university, the Quality Assurance Unit at the faculty, and all staff members and faculty assistants at the “Architectural Engineering” Department, under the supervision of Dr. Faten Labib, Head of Department. It is worth mentioning that this accreditation is valid for five academic years until it is renewed again in accordance with the Authority’s requirements.

Dr. Sherif noted that the issuance of this program accreditation is considered an acknowledgment by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) that the “Architectural Engineering” program at the ERU’s Faculty of Engineering provides engineering education in accordance with the quality standards. Academic accreditation standards include various aspects of engineering education such as the quality of the curriculum, the adequacy and efficiency of the faculty members, as well as achieving the required learning outcomes, the faculty’s research and educational efforts, community service programs, the technique used in resource management, the level of students and graduates, the facilities and equipment at the faculty’s scientific departments, and other requirements for higher education quality.

In the same context, Dr. Alaa Mohamed Al-Batsh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the ERU, explained that after the faculty’s “Architectural Engineering” program was approved by the NAQAAE, all programs of the Faculty of Engineering have become fully accredited. These programs are: Communication Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, Construction Engineering, and finally the Architectural Engineering. Dr. Alaa added that the faculty’s management is currently preparing for obtaining the institutional accreditation in order to complete the quality and accreditation system within the faculty.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the ERU stated that among the many benefits of accreditation is that the faculty’s certificates for these accredited programs will have great value, which is especially true at the level of Arab and African countries. In addition, such accreditation contributes to raising the regional and international ranking of the university in general. Obtaining accreditation from the NAQAAE means that the capabilities available for study at the faculty are sufficient and that everything related to the educational process proceeds in accordance with the quality requirements. This comes as a result of the great support provided by the university leaders to the faculty.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the ERU explained that the faculty includes a distinguished group of “faculty members and supporting staff” with high and unique academic competencies, which has contributed and helped in reaching those accomplishments that are achieved on the ground every day. All this is in the best interest of the faculty’s students to prepare them as graduates who are capable of competing in the labor market at the local, regional and global levels. The Dean also pointed out that all departments of the faculty are accredited by the Federation of Arab Engineers and the Arab Authority for Engineering and Technological Accreditation, and that the faculty gives most of its students the opportunity to get trained at major engineering projects in both public and private sectors.

Dr. Alaa Mohamed Al-Batsh thanked the great effort and distinguished performance of the department head as well as the faculty members and supporting staff of the program. He also thanked the university’s quality center headed by Dr. Hesham Fathy, the faculty’s quality unit headed by Dr. Abdullah Al-Ramsisy, and all members of the university’s administrative staff. Furthermore, His Excellency expressed thanks to Dr. Said Hassan, Dr. Shaymaa Gaber, Dr. Omnia Farouk, Dr. Dalia Mustafa and Dr. Marwa Mustafa for the technical support which they provided before and during the accreditation visit.

For her part, Dr. Faten Labib, Head of the Department of Architecture at the ERU’s Faculty of Engineering stated that granting this accreditation to the Architecture Department comes as a result of the efforts of all faculty members and the program’s supporting staff who are characterized by scientific and practical excellence in various fields of architectural specializations, and who have played an effective role and exerted exceptional efforts to achieve the vision and mission of the department, namely, to graduate distinguished generations of architects in the various fields of labor market such as architectural and urban designing, green architecture and sustainable design, along with distinguished engineers who are capable of effective implementation at architectural and urban project sites.

The Head of Architecture Department at the ERU’s Faculty of Engineering pointed out that the architecture program at the faculty meets the national standards for the engineering sector in terms of institutional capacity and educational effectiveness. She highlighted that this comes as a result of the great and distinguished effort of the faculty’s work team in addition to the great assistance and effective cooperation of the faculty’s quality team members as well as the university’s Quality Center and the administrative department.
