A researcher at the Egyptian Russian University- Faculty of Pharmacy discovers an effective treatment for diabetes.

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University, in Cairo, Badr City, confirmed that scientific research at the Egyptian Russian University constitutes an important element in the vision and mission of the university, and that a link is made between the goals of sustainable development and the research plans and priorities of the university’s colleges. The university also pays great attention to areas of scientific research that are based on community service.
In this context, Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that researcher Mohamed Sayed Abdel Hafeez, assistant lecturer in the “Pharmacognosy Department” at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Egyptian Russian University, has reached effective results for treating diabetes after discovering extracted natural active substances from the leaves of a rare “ornamental tree” located inside the “Zoo” in Giza Governorate, noting that the Egyptian Russian University provides the appropriate atmosphere for researchers from the faculty members and the supporting staff to conduct their experiments and scientific research, as scientific research is one of the strategic goals of the university’s faculties, with the full support of Dr. Mohamed. Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
In the same context, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ehab Amin Fettouh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Egyptian Russian University, confirmed that researcher Mohamed Sayed Abdel Hafeez, assistant lecturer in the Pharmacognosy Department at the college, obtained a doctorate degree under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Omaima El Gendy, Head of the Pharmacognosy Department and acting Vice Dean of the College of Pharmacy for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, after a long scientific discussion, presented the results of his research on the effect of active substances in reducing blood sugar levels and treating other diseases pointing out that the administration of the Faculty of Pharmacy urges researchers to choose applied research points that keep pace with the labor market, in line with The university and faculty research plans, the national trend for applied research in the field of community service, and Egypt’s national plan for sustainable development 2030.
For his part, Dr. Jamil Muhammad Abdullah Ibrahim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Egyptian Russian University, explained that “researcher Muhammad Sayed Abdel Hafeez” published a research paper in an international journal classified in the first quarter according to the Clarivat database and an impact factor of 4.5.
In a related context, researcher Mohamed Sayed Abdel Hafeez, in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Egyptian Russian University, indicated that the original habitat of the tree “Colphylla racemosa”, which is rare, is in “south-eastern Africa and Australia” and is found in Egypt in the Zoo in Giza Governorate and the Palace Museum. Muhammad Ali in Manial in Cairo Governorate confirming that some farms have recently begun cultivating it for the beauty of its flowers, but similar research had not been conducted on it previously, stressing that the active substances extracted from it had an effect in improving the level of sugar in the blood, reducing the inflammation associated with diabetes, and improving the functions of Liver and kidneys, reducing harmful triglyceride levels in the blood, and reducing antioxidants that lead to cancer if they increase in the body in rats. Clinical trials will be completed to determine the pharmaceutical form in which it can be used.
