A diabetes awareness initiative will be launched under the auspices of Professor Sherif Fakhry, President of the University, coinciding with World Diabetes Day, and with the participation of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty Oral and Dental Medicine at the University. The initiative is organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Committee and the “Query Pharm” family at the Faculty of Pharmacy. A group of activities that last for a week on and off campus, in the surrounding community, will be held.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about the impact of diabetes on society, early diagnosis, manifestations of the disease, the impact of oral and dental health on diabetics, and ways to prevent or delay its onset by following a healthy diet and practicing physical activity.
A large number of ERU student volunteers are participating in the initiative, in order to raise awareness among university members, and to educate residents of some areas in Badr City about diabetes, by distributing awareness leaflets, discussing the importance of early detection to avoid complications of the disease, in addition, blood glucose tests will be also performed.
