Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel-Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University, welcomed the attendees from various Egyptian universities, pointing to the importance of obtaining the Fundamentals of Digital Transformation Certificate (FDTC) for all academic institutions to keep up with the technologies of the era and artificial intelligence, which is now entering all fields, whether academic, educational, industrial, commercial, and others. This aligns with the universities’ efforts in digital transformation and the use of advanced information systems and electronic applications to make sound decisions that achieve the goals of sustainable development (SDGs) and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

In the same context, Dr. Omar Salem, Director of the Electronic and Knowledge Services Center at the Supreme Council of Universities, thanked the administration of the Egyptian Russian University for hosting the meeting of the “Executive Committee for Information Technology Training,” which convenes every three months to discuss the evaluation of the performance of digital transformation units in Egyptian universities, as well as future projects and challenges. He noted that the leaders and figures of higher education in the ministry and council are concerned with the fields of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, and are working to eradicate digital illiteracy among university affiliates, students, faculty members, and their assistants.

Dr. Mohamed Hassan Gad, Director of the Central Unit for Information Technology Training at the Supreme Council of Universities, confirmed that dealing with artificial intelligence and digital transformation has become a basic requirement in all areas of life, particularly in academic education and scientific research, contributing to the development of education and graduates of colleges and institutes. He revealed that the leadership of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Supreme Council of Universities has given directives that, within the near future, all educational institutions affiliated with the Supreme Council of Universities must use the tools of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, and that the scientific content of curricula and training programs must be updated according to modern advancements, as is the case in advanced countries in education.

The Executive Director of the Digital Transformation Center at the Egyptian Russian University added that the “Executive Committee for Information Technology Training” is working to disseminate and establish the concepts and objectives of digital transformation at all levels within state scientific and administrative institutions, in line with the responsibility of the “Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research” through its institutions and entities toward digital transformation in the academic and civil communities. He explained that the Fundamentals of Digital Transformation Certificate is considered the official and essential alternative to many certificates according to the decision of the “Supreme Council of Universities.”

During the meetings of the “Executive Committee for Information Technology Training,” accreditation certificates were handed over to the training centers that were accredited or reaccredited during the past period at some universities and higher institutes affiliated with the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities.
