The Egyptian Russian University hosts the event of India's Cultural Day...

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the university, in cooperation with the Indian Cultural Center and the Indian Embassy, had hosted the activities of “India’s Cultural Day.” The event was attended by Mr. Ambrij Sarkar, Deputy Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of India. Dr. Sherif pointed out that the activities of “India’s Cultural Day” were carried out with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Al-Sayed Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.
The ERU President explained that “India’s Cultural Day” came within the framework of enriching the students’ knowledge, enhancing communication and interaction with the cultures and civilizations of other peoples, introducing to the students the Indian culture, and celebrating more than (77) years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Egypt and India. Furthermore, the ERU President stated that the event also included an art exhibition of some features of Egyptian Indian relations, in addition to paintings of the most important landmarks in India, some Indian handicrafts, in addition to ancient musical instruments. Moreover, an introductory presentation was organized about the sport of yoga with its Indian origin and its great benefits. The event included as well artistic performances about Indian folklore, which were performed by artistic bands of Mawlana Aazad Indian Cultural Center in Cairo.
In the same vein, Mr. Mohamed Said, Coordinator of Cultural Programs at the Embassy of India in Cairo, pinpointed that the event of “India’s Cultural Day” started with an inspection of the exhibition of artistic paintings to illustrate the most important archaeological and cultural monuments within the state of India. The exhibition, in addition, included photos of prominent figures and events that contributed to enhancing the relations between the two countries. It also included a display of some Indian handicrafts and musical instruments, followed by a performance of the Indian classical dance “Kathak” and several performances by “Bollywood” band.
On her part, Dr. Hanaa Abd-el-Rahman, Leader of Students’ Activities at the ERU, asserted that the university management recommended, after the success of the event of “India’s Cultural Day” and based on the students’ interaction with the performances of the Indian bands, to organize more cultural events with the aim to introduce to the Egyptian people the cultures of other countries and to provide them with more information and details about the Indian culture.
The event of “India’s Cultural Day” on the campus of the ERU was attended by: Dr. Mohamed Ehab Fattouh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Khaled Tawfeeq, Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Dr. Said Hassan Ibrahim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Soha Samir, Director of the Psychological Support Unit at the University, in addition to a number of public figures, representatives of higher education and scientific research, and students from the different faculties of the ERU.
