Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the “Digital Transformation Center” at the university has obtained accreditation from the Supreme Council of Universities. This comes as part of the university’s commitment to keeping pace with the state’s strategy in comprehensive digital transformation, implementing “Egypt’s Vision 2030 to achieve ‘sustainable development goals’. He noted that the approval of the “Digital Transformation Center” on campus came with the guidance and support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal El-Sayed Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.

ERU President indicated that the accreditation of the “Digital Transformation Center” at the university came as a result of the protocol signed with the Electronic and Knowledge Services Center at the Supreme Council of Universities, led by Dr. Ashour Emari, and Dr. Mohamed Hassan Gad, Director of the Central Unit for Information Technology Training at the Supreme Council of Universities; to activate obtaining the Fundamentals of Digital Transformation Certificate “FDTC”. He added that the protocol comes within the framework of the university’s educational and pioneering role and keeping pace with all technical developments. Its aim is to spread knowledge of information technology within the community and access applicable knowledge sources for a large number of target groups on a wide scale in the university and civil community in all its categories and with high quality.

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Nabi revealed that the transition to a digital society is everyone’s responsibility, whether the state or citizens, to have a better standard of living in a safe society in light of global changes that necessitate the process of transitioning to digital management in all fields to face global challenges. The university has succeeded in implementing an integrated plan for transitioning to smart digital systems, including the “Student Information System” for course registration, fee payment, and exam results, and the Learning Management System (LMS) for managing educational content and remote assessment. The ERU SIS Mobile Application was made available to students to facilitate their interaction with the SIS system, and a project for mechanizing administrative communications at the university is being implemented to increase the efficiency and productivity of the administrative apparatus. He pointed out that digital transformation has become a general requirement adopted by most countries of the world to save time and effort for both the individual and the institution, in addition to contributing to reducing corruption rates and eliminating bureaucracy in its negative concept.

In the same context, Dr. Tamer Saleh, Director of the Digital Transformation Center at the Egyptian Russian University, confirmed that the university presidency attaches great importance to digital transformation in the field of academic education. Therefore, the university continues to harness all its capabilities to raise the efficiency of its information infrastructure and mechanize electronic tests. He pointed out that the university is one of the first Egyptian universities that sought to implement digital transformation.

ERU Director of the Digital Transformation Center added that the accreditation certificate for the “Digital Transformation Center” was delivered as part of the periodic meeting of the Executive Committee for Information Technology at the Supreme Council of Universities, in the presence of directors and training coordinators for the Fundamentals of Digital Transformation Certificate at Egyptian universities and institutions at Cairo University Conference Center. He explained that the center’s accreditation came after a visit from a committee of the Electronic and Knowledge Services Center at the Supreme Council of Universities, and ensuring its readiness to provide training on programs qualifying for obtaining the Fundamentals of Digital Transformation Certificate, alongside the excellence of the university’s infrastructure facilities in terms of internet speed, laboratories, and various training equipment and supplies.

Dr. Tamer Saleh declared that obtaining the Digital Transformation Certificate is one of the main and basic requirements for all groups in the university and civil community to acquire basic knowledge of information technology and its applications such as: “Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Applications, and Cloud Computing”. He revealed that the Fundamentals of Digital Transformation Certificate is considered the official and basic alternative to many certificates according to the decision of the Supreme Council of Universities.
