Two students from the Egyptian Russian University represent Africa in the Huawei Competition in China... Photos

   Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University in Cairo, Badr City, announced that Malak Ibrahim Mohamed, a student from the College of Artificial Intelligence, has been selected as part of the team that will represent Africa in the Huawei Global Finals in Shenzhen-Bantian Longgang, China, in the field of computing for the academic year 2024-2025.
The President of the Egyptian Russian University confirmed that participation in the Huawei Competition in Shenzhen-Bantian Longgang will be supported by Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees. He also stated that the outstanding students at the Huawei Academy were honored on campus by Mr. Mabin, Head of Business Development at Huawei Egypt, Eng. Asmaa Serag, CEO of Huawei Academies Egypt, and Eng. Mirna Sherif, Academic Development Officer at Huawei.
The President of the Egyptian Russian University noted that Dr. Tamer Saleh, Executive Director of the Huawei Academy at the university and a doctor in the Communications Department at the Faculty of Engineering, won first place from Huawei International in the “Operations Teaching Competition 2024-2025”. He will represent Africa as a speaker at the opening ceremony of the global competition. He has also been nominated as an international judge in the Innovation Competition for students who qualified for the global finals in China. He added that this achievement is a result of his professional competence and academic excellence, as well as the university’s commitment to enhancing and developing the capabilities of its faculty members, qualifying them to represent Egypt internationally in advanced technological specializations with major global companies and the foremost in the field of communications.
In the same context, Dr. Hesham Fathy, Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence and Supervisor of the Huawei Academy at the University, explained that Engineer Mustafa Gamal, a lecturer at the College of Artificial Intelligence and a trainer at the Huawei Academy, won second place from Huawei International in the Experimental Teaching Competition for the academic year (2024-2025). He noted that these achievements and advanced positions are part of the Academy’s leadership within the university and its excellence in educational innovation among thousands of applicants from Egypt and Africa.
The Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence and Supervisor of the Huawei Academy at the University stated that the Huawei competition aims to discover and nurture local talent in the field of information and communications technology, honing their skills, and preparing them to succeed in leading the technological future, contribute to achieving digital transformation plans, and develop strategies that rely on information technology. He explained that the university administration signed a cooperation protocol with Huawei, establishing the Huawei Academy on campus in 2021. This makes the university one of the first universities to collaborate with the company on academic activities, which offers numerous benefits to students studying information systems within the university’s faculties.
For his part, Dr. Tamer Saleh, Executive Director of the Huawei Academy at the Egyptian-Russian University and a lecturer in the Communications Department of the Faculty of Engineering, stated that Malak Ibrahim Mohamed, a student from the University’s College of Artificial Intelligence, is one of the most talented students in the field of information and communications technology. She was selected from among nearly 2,000 students who participated in a competition from all of Egypt’s prestigious universities (public, private, and non-governmental). She will represent Africa in the final round of the competition in Shenzhen, China, in the city of Bantian Longgang.
The Executive Director of the Huawei Academy at the university revealed that the protocol with the global technology company Huawei provides the opportunity to train a number of distinguished faculty members and support staff to obtain the company’s international certification. These members will become certified trainers within the university, particularly in the field of information technology, which has become a vital field for leading the development of societies. He revealed that one of the terms of the protocol includes the establishment of a center for training students from both inside and outside the university, benefiting the local community and the cities adjacent to the university’s Badr City location.
Dr. Tamer Saleh continued, saying that this success encourages the university to continue its drive to motivate its students to participate in various forums, both local and international. This is to develop creative thinking skills, bridge the gap between theoretical education and practical experience, instill a spirit of innovation, follow up scientific developments, and expand self-learning methods rather than relying solely on traditional indoctrination methods. He noted that students’ integration into advanced technology is a key focus.
At the conclusion of the distinguished honoring ceremony held in the university’s celebration hall, Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University, honored: “Mr. Maben, Head of Business Development at Huawei Egypt; Eng. Asmaa Serag, CEO of Huawei Academies Egypt; and Eng. Mirna Sherif, Academic Development Officer at Huawei”; for their efforts in serving the community in the fields of modern and advanced technologies.
