A new batch of high school graduates is ready to be enrolled in the faculty of Engineering at the Egyptian Russian University.

Prof. Dr. Alaa Mohamed Ahmed Al-Batsh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, announced the readiness of the faculty to accept a new batch of high school graduates or its equivalent. He invites people welcomingly to pay a visit to the university to get acquainted with the faculty and its capabilities and to get answers for their inquiries regarding the available scientific programs and the educational process. For illustration, Dr Alaa indicated that the faculty was established under a republican decision in 2006, and the academic degrees it grants are accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities and the Ministry of Higher Education; accordingly, 12″ batches of qualified engineers have been graduated, enjoying a good reputation in the labor market. Since its establishment, having a prominent position among the Egyptian, Arab and international engineering faculties, and being one of the elements of the development of Egyptian-Russian cultural and scientific relations have been the faculties distinctive vision which it strives it achieve. The faculty is committed to providing an academic, educational and research environment to prepare qualified engineers who are able to compete in the labor market as well as positively participate in servicing their society within the framework of moral and ethical values. This comes with the support of Dr. Muhammad Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, and the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry Muhammad Abd al-Nabi, President of the University, and under the supervision of a group of distinguished professors.

The Dean added that the expertise and capabilities of the faculty help graduates succeed and excel and. Besides, he indicated that all faculty’s departments have obtained the accreditation of the Federation of Arab Engineers. According to this decision, the opportunities for graduates’ competition in the local, regional and global labor markets have increased. This step paves the way for the graduates to work easily in the Arab countries that have a seat in the Federation of Arab Engineers, without doing an equation or taking exams. As a result, the extraction of permits from the engineering unions of those countries without any conditions to practice the profession in the desired Arab country became durable. He pointed out that the process of developing new programs and specializations to keep pace with scientific development in the field of engineering and with the jobs of the future, whether locally, regionally or globally, is still in progress.

It is worth noting that there are four distinct programs in the faculty, which are: Communications engineering, mechatronics and robotics engineering, construction engineering, and architecture. The faculty has applied for the accreditation of these programs from the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Education and Accreditation in accordance with national academic standards, competencies and engineering education skills.

There are other processes of establishing three new programs; their regulations have been completed, and their accreditation procedures are being finalized, in order to keep pace with the actual current and future requirements and needs of the labor market. These programs are:

  1. Electro-mechanical Engineering Program, concerning with designing, implementing and managing of projects related to the engineering interface between electrical systems and mechanical systems
  2. Energy Engineering Program, the university has paid great attention to the fields of traditional energy production and renewable energy.
  3. Biomedical Engineering Program, designed for the professional link between engineering applications and medical requirements.

These programs come within the framework of the faculty’s continuous review of engineering programs and courses to keep pace with recent developments and challenges and to achieve competitiveness in the labor market.

Dr. Alaa El-Batsh clarified that the university has many cooperation agreements with the best Russian universities in the fields of sciences: engineering and artificial intelligence, besides preparing twinning programs with Izhevsk State Technical University “ISTU”. Twinning is a partnership and cooperation between the two universities, which is the recognition of the courses taught by each of them upon agreed scientific program approved by the Supreme Council of Universities. Upon completion of the study, students obtain a certificate from the Egyptian Russian University and another from the foreign university. The twinning is in the fields of communications engineering, mechatronics engineering, robotics and construction engineering. Consequently, graduates will be provided with greater job opportunities locally and internationally. This system also provides an opportunity for students to learn about Russian culture and civilization, especially Izhevsk, which is one of the largest industrial cities.

It has to be mentioned that the faculty encourages its students to participate effectively in scientific projects and various student activities for their impact on developing skills and refining talents. Dr Alaa stated that the university provides all means of support to its students from allowing the faculty to organize annually the exhibition and scientific forum for the departments of communication and Mechatronics and Robotics periodically every semester to presenting a large number of outstanding practical projects for some courses and graduation projects for senior students

He also supported the establishment of the first team for students who keen on mechatronics and robotics at the Egyptian Russian University in February (2016) from some first year students in the Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering program at the faculty of Engineering under the name “RGS” “Robotics Geek School” to achieve their passion for robotics and their need to provide a practical application of what they study in the fields of robotics, electronics, control systems and programming, and to compete and exchange experiences among them in this field. The team transfers experiences among its members in the executive field of robotics. It is worth noting that the faculty of Engineering at the Egyptian Russian University won the “sixth and tenth” places out of 56 teams in the “Mass Space Agency” competition.
