Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Naby, President of the Egyptian-Russian University, announced that his excellencyPresident Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, issued Decree No. 583 for the year 2021, amending some provisions of the Presidential Decree No. 256 for the year 2006 regarding the establishment of a private university in the name of the “Egyptian-Russian University.” The decision included amending Article Three of the decree to establish the university as follows:
1- Replacing item No. 3 to become 3- College of Management, Economics and Business Technology.
2- Adding four new items with numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 as follows: 6- Applied Arts; 7- Fine Arts; 8- Al-Alsun and Technical Languages; 9- Artificial Intelligence.
Thus, the university now includes nine faculties, including the faculties where study is already in place, such as the faculties of “Engineering, Pharmacy, Oral and Dental Medicine, and Management, Professional Technology, and Computers.” Furthermore, procedures are being taken to obtain a decision to start study in the other five faculties.
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian-Russian University was established by Presidential Decree No. 256 of 2006. It is located in Badr City, Cairo Governorate, on the Cairo-Suez desert road, on an area of more than thirty-nine feddans. The aforementioned Presidential decree was previously amended by Presidential Decree No. 115 for the year 2013 to add the Faculties of “Oral and Dental Medicine and Nursing” to the university’s faculties. The Egyptian-Russian University seeks to occupy a prominent position among Egyptian, Arab, and international universities, and to be one of the tributaries of cultural and scientific relations between Egypt and Russia
The university has cooperation agreements with major universities in the Russian Federation, which provides students wishing to travel to these universities with the opportunity to train and study and obtain a “double degree,” as well as exchanging experiences through the exchange of teaching assistants , college demonstrator, and granting the opportunity to complete studies for postgraduate students in Russia and interact with a society characterized by discipline and reverence for work. The university is also an active member of the Union of Arab Universities
The study began in the Faculties of Engineering and Pharmacy in the fall 2006 semester. The Faculty of Engineering includes the programs Construction Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, and Architecture, accredited by the Federation of Arab Engineers, in addition to the Communication Engineering program. The study began in the Pharm D program “clinical pharmacy” in addition to the general pharmacy program Pharm D in the year 2020 and the study began at the College of “Oral and Dental Medicine”, as of the “fall 2014” semester
The study began at the “Faculty of Management, Professional Technology, and Computers,” as of the “fall 2018” semester, by the “Business Administration program,” which includes the specializations: “Management, Marketing, Human Resource Management, and Finance,” in addition to the “Accounting Sciences program, the Economics program, and the Political Science program.” In line with the state’s orientations towards digital transformation and achieving sustainable development, and the orientation of many countries worldwide towards “data science and artificial intelligence,” in order to build societies that depend primarily on knowledge, and to achieve the core objective of the “Egyptian-Russian University” towards the optimal preparation of its students for the future global competitiveness challenges, the study started in the “Faculty of Management, Professional Technology, and Computers” in the professional business information technology program, which includes the specializations of “information systems management, business analysis science, and the advanced computing and artificial intelligence program,” which in turn includes the specializations of artificial intelligence and data science, starting from the “fall 2020″ semester.
The amendment issued by the latest Presidential Decree came at the request of the university to divide the Faculty of Management, Professional Technology, and Computers into two faculties named “Faculty of Management, Economics, and Business Technology” and “Faculty of Artificial Intelligence” due to the importance of the two fields in the future of development and the necessity of the university’s participation in the provision and development of human resources in these two important areas, being two pillars of the country’s economic progress.
The university also requested the addition of the Faculty of Applied Arts, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Technical Languages, so that the university includes the applied scientific, artistic, and literary disciplines, and to confirm the university’s interest in preparing a graduate capable of contributing to the establishment of civilization, communication between civilizations, and transference of technology.
