Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry, the President of the Egyptian Russian University, issued a decree of appointing Prof. Dr. Essam Khamis Ibrahim as the Vice President of the Egyptian Russian University. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Essam has a Ph.D. in Metal Corrosion Chemistry and Protection from the Alexandria University and UMIST University in Britain, under the joint supervision system in 1985. Regarding Dr. Essam Khamis ample experience, he held many administrative positions like working as a professor of electrochemistry and metal corrosion protection at the Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, being the former Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs, acting as the supervisor on the project development unit in the ministry and bring the former director of the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications in Borg El Arab. 

Moreover, Dr Essam was the founding editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Applied Chemistry and he previously served as the Chairman of the American Fulbright Commission in Egypt. He was a member of a number of local and international scientific societies, a lecturer and organizer of a number of training courses and post-experience workshops for industrialists, a member of the editorial board of a number of specialized international scientific journals and a member of a number of industrial advisory committees. He delivered many public lectures in universities and research centers.

In addition, Dr. Essam led and participated in many specialized committees and councils at the level of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Alexandria University; he was the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in many international and local conferences, forums and ministerial meetings, including the recent meeting of the membership of the Open Science Advisory committee of UNESCO, which represents the UNESCO electoral group (Arab countries) and a member of the steering committee emanating from the “Arab Council for University Classification”. This council is concerned with the classification of Arab universities affiliated with the League of Arab States, the Arab region for education, culture and science, and the Union of Arab Universities.

Last but not least, Dr. Essam Khamis has won around 12 awards and shields from international and regional bodies and he is among the “Marquis Who’s Who” encyclopedias in science and engineering (6th edition), the Encyclopedia of “Who’s Who” in the world (16th edition), the Encyclopedia of “Who’s Who” in professionals, and so on and so forth. He was the supervisor of 37 master’s and PhD students, and a principal investigator for 21 locally and internationally funded research projects in the field of Metal Corrosion Chemistry and Protection. He earned 3 patents and published 115 papers in refereed journals and international conferences, with a total number of citations of 2,946, and his H-index of 25. He did his post-doctoral studies in the department of Materials Science and Engineering in the institution of M.I.T in the United States of America, continued his post-doctoral studies as a researcher at the Center for Corrosion and Protection, UMIST Manchester, UK and held the position of Professor of Chemistry in King Saud University, Saudi Arabia.
