Part of "One Day Is Not Enough" Event at Egyptian Russian University

With the purpose of reinforcing the university’s community role, supporting the Egyptian State’s efforts in caring for orphans, and providing a safe and motivating environment for them through national initiatives and projects to achieve social justice and care for the most vulnerable groups, the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), under the patronage of Professor / Dr. Sherif Fakhry, ERU President, has hosted the owners of “Hayat 360 Initiative” and “Bridges Initiative” for supporting the graduates of children’s homes. The event was attended by university students, a number of faculty deans, faculty members, and supporting staff, as well as Ms. Mayyada Essam, General Director of Community Engagement Sector at Midor Oil Refining Company, and Dr. Marwa Mowafy, Executive Director of Community Engagement at Midor Company.

The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Nahla Al-Nemr, Ambassador for Orphans in Egypt, member of “Children of Egypt” Committee at the Ministry of Solidarity, member of the National Committee for Alternative Care at UNICEF, and founder of “Hayat 360 Initiative”, which supports and rehabilitates “children’s home” graduates in different ways: providing educational and employment opportunities, psychological support, and ensuring social integration, which help them build stable and independent lives.

‏ The event was also attended by Mr. Nour Shaaban, Sports Broadcaster on the satellite channel and founder of “Bridges Initiative”, as well as many other sports and social initiatives. He is a children’s home graduate, who has managed to create a career for himself in the field of Sports Media. He is also a member of the Sports Professions Syndicate. He took upon himself as a mission to support his brothers in children’s homes. He has received honors from state institutions and has contributed to establishing tournaments and initiatives in cooperation with the Ministries of “Solidarity” and “Youth & Sports”.

The event included presentations on the importance of voluntary work and the various activities which aim at providing sustainable services, empowering those deprived from parental care, and integrating them into society. The day concluded with a friendly football match between the Egyptian Russian University team and the “Bridges” team, which includes a group of young graduates of children’s homes. The match was held in a warm atmosphere of friendship and love.
