ERU Architecture Students Embark on Educational Field Visit to the Religious Complex
As part of the Department of Architecture’s ongoing efforts to motivate students and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience, the Egyptian Russian University organized an educational field visit to the historic Religious Complex in Old Cairo for its second-year architecture students.
During the visit, students explored notable landmarks, including the Hanging Church, the Church of Abu Serga, the Church of St. George the Greek, and the Church of St. Barbara. They also visited the Ben Ezra Synagogue and the Coptic Museum, gaining insight into the site’s rich architectural and religious heritage.
The visit was led by Prof. Faten Labib Mohamed, Head of the Department of Architecture, along with Assistant Lecturers Aya Mohamed Mahmoud, Sara Alaa El-Din, and contributions from Dr. Zeinab Shaarawy, TAs: Reem Taher Hassan, and Nouran Mohamed Haridi.
Students expressed immense benefit from the visit, highlighting its value in connecting academic theory with real-world observations of Coptic architectural styles and construction methods across different eras, ultimately enriching their cultural and architectural awareness.
