The Faculty of Pharmacy at the Egyptian Russian University Organizes a Seminar and Campaign: "Invisible Enemies" With Photos
Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdelnaby, President of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that, as a part of the university’s role in raising and enhancing public health awareness, the Faculty of Pharmacy students organized a virtual awareness-raising event entitled: “Unseen Enemies: A Virtual Dive into the World of Parasites and Viruses.” This event was held with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mostafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, as part of the university’s strategy to develop the practical and scientific skills of its students, as well as their communication and community service abilities.
In the same context, Dr. Mohamed Ehab Fatouh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Russian-Egyptian University, emphasized that the seminar and campaign activities were a practical application of the “Parasitology and Virology” course for third- level students in the Pharm D program. The event aimed at highlighting some of the most dangerous microorganisms that threaten human health, despite being invisible, through simplified and reliable scientific content. He added that developing health-related behavioral awareness is essential to deepen the community’s understanding of risk factors, promote health, and improve quality of life.
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Russian-Egyptian University indicated that the seminar and campaign were organized under the supervision of the Microbiology and Immunology Department of the Faculty of Pharmacy, chaired by Dr. Tharwat El-Khamisi and Dr. Dalya El-Damassy, with the participation of teaching assistants: Mohab Shalaby, Omar Hassan, Noura Abdullah, and pharmacist Rana Saad. He noted that the seminar content presented by the students included:
* Short educational videos.
* Posters and brochures in Arabic and English.
* Simplified messages shared on social media platforms.
Dr. Gamal Abdallah, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Egyptian-Russian University, stated that these materials were posted on dedicated Facebook pages, the main platform, as well as on YouTube and TikTok. He noted that the topics covered were unconventional, combining unusual and potentially dangerous scientific information, including:
* Flesh-eating parasites.
* Mind-controlling parasites.
* Sushi parasites.
* Rota virus.
* Varicella-Zoster virus (shingles).
* Hepatitis viruses.
* Coxsackie virus.
* Malaria.
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy explained that each topic was presented in a simplified manner, targeting a broad audience, focusing on methods of transmission, symptoms, prevention, and treatment. Dr. Gamil Abdallah stated that the seminar and campaign aim to raise public awareness about microorganisms that can cause serious diseases, even though they are invisible to the naked eye. The organizers hope that this digital awareness campaign will contribute to improving public understanding of parasites and viruses, and help people prevent these infections through simple, accessible information.
