Field visit to project site (Zainab Khatoun's House – Ms. Wasila's Historic House) for students of Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering - Egyptian Russian University
Within the framework of its ongoing efforts to motivate students, build up their capacities, and connect them in practice to their theoretical and practical studies, the Department of Architecture at the Egyptian Russian University organized a field visit for first-year students to the project site located at Al-Darb Al-Ahmar area in Cairo Governorate. The visit aimed to see on the ground the project site and analyze its elements from an environmental, architectural, and urban perspective.
During the visit, the students observed and analyzed different features of the site, which included:
* Topography and terrain
* Entry and exit points of the houses
* Architectural elements and spaces that form the house
* Orientation and natural ventilation
* Visual features and urban context of the site
This visit provided the students with the opportunity to apply the theoretical and practical concepts acquired in the classroom to real world, developing their observation and field analysis skills, which helps build up their design capacities in the next phases of the project.
The visit was organized under the auspices of Prof. / Dr. Faten Labib Mohamed, Head of the Department of Architecture, with the participation of Eng. / Bassam Al-Saad, Assistant Lecturer / Sara Alaa Al-Deen, Assistant Lecturer / Samar Mohamed Hafez, Eng. / Manar Ramadan, and Assistant Lecturer / Basma Barakat.
This visit comes within the framework of developing the educational process and enriching the student activities and learning through scientific trips and field visits. Through this type of activity, the faculty seeks to reinforce integration between the theoretical and practical aspects, develop critical thinking and analytical skills among students, and prepare them to understand the urban reality and to interact with the given data of the site directly. This contributes to building a generation of architects who are capable of conscious and responsible design in diverse urban contexts.
