A Field Trip for ERU Architecture Students to Al-Muizz Street
As part of Faculty of Engineering at the Egyptian Russian University commitment to enhancing practical application and bridging the gap between academic study and real-world experience, the Architecture Department organized a field trip for its students to Al-Muizz Street, one of the most important examples of the grandeur of Islamic architecture in Egypt.
The visit included a tour of several prominent Islamic monuments, including the Al-Hakim Mosque, the Al-Aqmar Mosque, the Muhammad Ali Sabil, the Abd al-Rahman Katkhuda Sabil, and the Qalawun Complex. During the tour, students had the opportunity to closely observe distinctive architectural styles and unique decorative elements that embody the beauty and evolution of Islamic architecture through ages.
The visit was organized under the auspices of Prof. Faten Labib, Head of the Architecture Department, and was part of History of Islamic Architecture and Humanities in Architecture courses supervised by Dr. Fahim Iskandar, with the participation of teaching assistants: Eng. Aya Mohamed, Eng. Reem Taher, Eng. Noran Mohamed, Eng. Sara Alaa, Eng. Roweida Hamdy, and Eng. Basma Barakat.
The visit witnessed remarkable student engagement through discussions and architectural analyses, enriching their experiences and raising their awareness of the importance of preserving Islamic architectural heritage as an integral part of Egypt’s urban and cultural identity.
