In cooperation between the Egyptian Russian University and the Alumni Association, planting the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Tree.
Within the framework of humanitarian cooperation between Egypt and Russia, this came at the initiative of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Excellency President Vladimir Putin, a delegation from the Egyptian Association of Alumni of Russian and Soviet Universities, in cooperation with the Egyptian Russian University, planted an olive tree in the university yard in Badr City; as a symbol of friendship between Egypt and Russia, and an embodiment of the historical friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry, President of the Egyptian Russian University, explained that planting the tree comes within the framework of the administration’s keenness to build bridges of communication with the Russian side and strengthens the bonds of cooperation between the university and the Russian cultural centers in Egypt pointing out that the growth of the friendship tree in the university yard will remain an expression of authenticity and continuity of the relations between the two peoples and a reminder to students and visitors over the coming years of the importance of this distinguished relationship.
In the same context, Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Alumni of Russian and Soviet Universities, stated that the initiative of the association indicates the depth of the historical relations between the two countries during the humanitarian cooperation between Egypt and Russia.. He added that the initiative was carried out in cooperation with one of the major Egyptian educational and cultural institutions to highlight the enlightening role of Russian culture in Egyptian society.
For his part, Arseny Starkov, Deputy Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, expressed his happiness to participate in planting an olive tree as an embodiment of Egyptian-Russian friendship, as well as three small lemon trees especially since this initiative coincided with the celebrations of the Russian Federation of the 76th anniversary of the victory in the second World war.
On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry, President of the University, honored the student “Bassem Ihab Allam”. Department of construction engineering at the university, for obtaining the second place at the level of Egypt for this year in the Russian Language Olympiad organized by the Russian Cultural Center in cooperation with Ros atom, the student was previously honored by Mr. “Alexey Tiffanyan” director of the Russian cultural centers in Egypt. The celebration included an artistic performance by the student “Abdul Rahman Al-Iraqi”, who recited a poem in Russian and the artist “Ramzi Nasr El-Din” Who presented two songs in Arabic and Russian.
The planting of the friendship tree was attended by Prof. Makarim Al-Ghamry, professor of Russian literature and former dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at the University of Ain Shams, and Prof. Dr. Fathy Toghan, Secretary General of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, And the journalist “Abdullah Al-Hajj” And Prof. Hana Abdel Rahman, pioneer of student activities at the Egyptian Russian University.
