Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdelnabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has approved the commencement of studies in the program “Bachelor of Al-Alsun in Technical Languages and Specialized Translation – Chinese Language Department” at the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Technical Languages, Egyptian Russian University, starting from the first academic semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. This comes based on the recommendation of the technical committee formed by the Linguistic Studies Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, which examined the material and human capabilities of the faculty and approved the launch of the program.

The President of the Egyptian Russian University explained that, within the framework of the university’s plan to develop its academic programs, meet the requirements of the labor market, and ensure outstanding job opportunities for graduates, the Chinese language program at the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Technical Languages has been activated, supported by Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mostafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees. Thus, the languages currently taught at the Faculty of Al-Alsun at the university are as follows:

1. Russian language.

2. English language.

3. German language.

4. Chinese language.

For her part, Dr. Makarem El-Ghamry, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Technical Languages at the Egyptian Russian University, stated that the establishment of the “Chinese Language Department” comes in response to the rapid developments in the labor market—locally, regionally, and internationally—given the significant global spread of the Chinese economy and the increasing demand for Chinese language translators. She pointed out that students wishing to enroll in the “Chinese Language Department” will be admitted starting from the upcoming academic year (2025–2026), in order to meet labor market needs and in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which has emphasized the importance of expanding programs in the most widely spoken international languages to meet job market demands.

The Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Technical Languages at the Egyptian Russian University further stated that the duration of study at the faculty is four academic years, leading to the award of a “Bachelor’s Degree in Al-Alsun”. She added that the faculty administration is ready to open additional departments in other widely spoken languages to meet the aspirations of new students. They will have the opportunity to study under an elite group of faculty members, while the administration is also committed to keeping pace with scientific advances in language teaching and modern technologies, as well as with labor market requirements in the various programs/departments the faculty intends to establish.
