Details of the Cooperation Protocol between the Egyptian Russian University and the Arab Organization for Industrialization

The Egyptian Russian University (ERU), headed by Dr. Sherif Fakhry, the University President, received a delegation from the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), headed by the Chairman of the Electronics Factory, Major General / Ahmed Mohamed Abd-el-Aziz, representing Major General of Staff, Engineer / Mukhtar Abd-el-Latif, for signing a joint cooperation protocol between the ERU and the AOI.  It aims at linking scientific research with industry in order to continually develop and modernize industrial products and maximize the use of the university’s scientific capabilities in solving technical problems and providing an advanced industrial environment, which ultimately aims at implementing research and registering patents, which will consequently lead to the manufacture of Egyptian products made by only Egyptian minds and hands.

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, ERU President, stated that the goals of the protocol between the university and the organization are, in short, as follows: “to achieve mutual benefit from the experiences and laboratories possessed by both parties of the protocol, providing technical support in the various fields of work of both of them, in addition to exchanging experiences, researches, applied studies, bulletins and scientific periodicals. Besides, there shall be scientific cooperation between them in research and applied projects through their implementation by exploiting the capacities and practical expertise of both parties, training university students in the organization’s factories, and participating in organizing seminars, scientific conferences and workshops.”

The ERU President highlighted that the university’s strategy since it was founded in the year 2006, which represents its fundamental goal, has been to optimally prepare its students to face future global competitive challenges, as it has become the first private university in the Middle East to work in cooperation with the best internationally ranked Russian universities… He added that the signing of the protocol comes as a fruit of the full support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.

In the same context, Major General / Ahmed Mohamed Abd-el-Aziz, Chairman of the Electronics Factory, which is affiliated to the AIO, made it clear that the factories and companies of the AIO have the latest laboratories and production lines in their fields of work. The AIO owns various companies and factories, including the “Electronics Factory,” which works in the field of advanced electronics and communication industry. The factory has great experience and capabilities through which it can contribute to pushing forward the research and training sectors in higher education institutions.

On his part, Dr. Essam Khamis, Consultant of the ERU President for Academic Development, delivered a presentation on the excellence and vision of the university, supported with an introductory video about the university, and the visit of a delegation of students from United Russia to the ERU, as part of the student exchange program. He also reviewed a number of active agreements between the university and a number of private Russian universities for exchanging visits, granting dual scientific degrees, and holding joint scientific conferences.

The Consultant of the ERU President for Academic Development explained about the faculties of the ERU and its capabilities. He praised the university’s research outputs in terms of quantity and quality. Moreover, he highlighted the university’s order in a number of international university rankings. He added that the total scientific publication of the Egyptian Russian University amounts to 850 research papers in globally indexed journals, of which 194 papers have been published in 2023 so far.

In this regard, Dr. Alaa Mohammed Al-Batsh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the ERU, stated that the protocol is based on the university’s belief in the necessity of linking scientific research to industry in order to maintain the development and ongoing modernization of products within Egyptian factories. This shall be attained by taking advantage of the university’s scientific capabilities in solving technical problems and providing an advanced industrial environment with the aim of implementing researches and patents, leading to the manufacture of Egyptian products which are fully made by Egyptian minds and hands, in addition to training students on modern technologies in the field of manufacturing.

In a related context, Dr. Hisham Fathi, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence at the ERU, asserted that the purpose of the cooperation protocol with the AOI is to provide an advanced practical environment for conducting research and for developing products and production lines using artificial intelligence technology such as: “surveillance cameras, laboratories, interactive screens, LED television screens, electronic display screens, computers, tablets and laptops.” The cooperation also helps in developing and enhancing the students’ scientific skills and qualifying them to be distinguished graduates who are capable of meeting the labor market needs in their specialty, in addition to contributing effectively to the development of their country.

On the ERU’s side, the signing of the protocol was attended by: Dr. Said Hassan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence at the university, Dr. Ibrahim Mosaad, Head of the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics at the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Sameh Zarif, Head of the Data Science Department at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Shaymaa Mustafa, Head of the Communication Department at the Faculty of Engineering and Engineer / Emad Farouk, Director of the IT Department at the ERU. On the AOI’s side, the signing was attended by Major General Engineer / Amr Mahmoud Kamal, the Chairman of the Electronics Factory, Major General Samy Al-Shebiny, Engineer / Atef Abu-Hashim, Engineer / Yasser Helmy, Engineer / Mohammed Mahmoud and Engineer / Alaa Al-Deen Gouda.
