Dr. Sherif added that the 6th of October glorious victories were not a coincidence, but the result of good preparation, meticulous planning, serious training, and perseverance in implementation. He pinpointed that the return of the land came as a result of many battles, some of which were military, some of which were the battle of Egyptian diplomacy and legal men, in addition to the perseverance of the Egyptian negotiators in the International Court until the last inch of Egyptian land, “Taba”, was restored under its sovereignty.
In his speech, Major General Pilot / Ahmed Al-Mansoury expressed his joy to be on the ERU campus and among its students for the fifth year in a row. He reviewed the honorable heroism of the Egyptian Air Force, of which he was one of the prominent heroes during the war period until victory, and how he was able to break the world records and the military aviation rules, to the point where his aerial battles and maneuvers, along with those of his fellow Egyptian Air Force eagles, became a source of appreciation among local and international military academies. He also spoke about his 52 sorties over 18 days during the October War, and how he successfully landed his broken-down plane on Zafarana Road. He also mentioned that he had received numerous medals, including the Medal of Courage, the Military Star Medal, and others.
Major General Pilot / Ahmed Al-Mansoury was called by the enemy media “the Crazy Pilot.” He said that victory came as a reward from God and from the assurance possessed by every officer and soldier no matter how large or strong the enemy was, which consequently led to successes to be remembered throughout history. He was motivating students to draw inspiration from the October heroes’ values of heroism and sacrifice and to transform them into positive energy in their daily lives through hard work, diligence, perseverance, and active participation in serving their community and nation. He wished that God would grant success to all sectors of the Egyptian people in serving our beloved country and working to advance its progress and dignity.
