Egyptian Russian University celebrates International Volunteer Day "White Day" ... photos

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology at the university organized the “White Day” event to celebrate International Volunteer Day, which aims to promote a culture of volunteer work and consolidating the values ​​of giving, solidarity and social responsibility among university students … He added that the event was held with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.

The ERU President explained that organizing the event this year coincided with the declaration of 2026 as the International Year of Volunteering, which reflects the growing international interest in the role of youth in leading societal change and supporting development paths at the local, regional and global levels.

In the same context, Dr. Al-Tahera Al-Sayed Hameya, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology at the ERU, expressed her pride in the university’s initiatives in serving the community and supporting volunteer work. She affirmed that volunteering is one of the most important drivers of change and development, and that the participation of university students has become a national necessity that contributes to building up their skills and reinforcing their social responsibility, in accordance with “Egypt Vision 2030” … She highlighted the importance of continuing cooperation with volunteer institutions and organizations to maximize the impact of community work, especially with the declaration of 2026 as the International Year of Volunteering.

The Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology at the ERU expressed her gratitude to Dr. Sherif Fakhry, the ERU President, for his continued support, and to the university administration departments, led by Ms. Ikram Mohamed Abd-el- Hameed, and to the organizing team of students from the faculty. under the supervision of Dr. Nehad Hosny Youssef, Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service, Environment and Scientific Research, and Teaching Assistant/ Mohamed Gamal in the Economics Department, for their efforts in organizing the event.

Dr. Al-Tahera Al-Sayed Hameya confirmed that the event witnessed the participation of a number of the most important institutions and volunteer organizations in Egypt, including: the Egyptian Food Bank, Mersal Foundation for Charity and Development, Egyptian Red Crescent, Al-Nibras Foundation for the Blind, Egyptian Scholars Foundation, the University’s Social Solidarity Unit, A sustainable youth entity, a member of the Egyptian Federation of Youth Entities at the Ministry of Youth and Sports,” along with the participation of university students and volunteers from various disciplines.

On her part, Dr. Nehad Hosny Youssef, Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology for Community Service, Environment and Scientific Research at the Egyptian Russian University, said that the “White Day” event was distinguished by a series of inspiring speeches and dialogues presented by the speakers. The student and volunteer activities organized by the university and in which students participate were reviewed under the auspices of Dr. Hanaa Abdel Rahman, Advisor to the University President for Student Activities. She added that Professor Nihad Fahim from the Egyptian Food Bank emphasized the importance of promoting food security through community volunteering. Professor Basant Amer from the Marsal Foundation presented the foundation’s vision for developing volunteer projects, health and development services.

The Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology for Community Service, Environment and Scientific Research added that the message of the event came under the slogan “We are all Good … We are all in White,” and the event witnessed the establishment of informational booths and registration of students in various volunteer initiatives. She pinpointed that the Student and Youth Activities Department at the university, led by Captain/ Mohamed Abdullah, participated with a special booth for the department’s “Chess Club” to encourage students to practice the game, in the presence of students from different faculties, who volunteered to teach their peers the basics of the chess game.

In a related context, Dr. Sherin Al-Sayed, Secretary General of the Egyptian Scientists Foundation, delivered a speech. In her speech, she tackled the role of scientific research in supporting community initiatives. In addition, Professor/ Abd-el-Rahman Tarek, representative of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, spoke about the Society’s training and humanitarian rehabilitation projects.

In the same context, Ms. Heba Al-Awwam, Executive Director of “Al-Nibras Foundation: Friend of the Blind”, participated, emphasizing the importance of integrating low-vision individuals into volunteer activities.

On his part, the student/ Mohamed Ramadan presented an inspiring model for young people with disabilities in student volunteer work and his role in obtaining a scholarship at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

On the same topic, Dr. Ahmed Shaaban Gadallah, Founder and Chairman of the Sustainable Youth entity at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, reviewed the role of youth in achieving sustainable development and reinforcing the culture of societal volunteer work.

It is worth noting that Dr. Al-Tahera Al-Sayed Hameyah concluded the event by honoring all the participating entities in appreciation of their role in supporting volunteer work and providing opportunities for students to interact with community initiatives.
