Egyptian Russian University gets advanced positions in projects competition at the Air Defense College.

Prof. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abd El- Nabi, president of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that out of keenness to build academic relations, open channels of scientific communication, and in support of the scientific energies, the university participated in the Third International Telecommunications Conference (ITC EGYPT’ 2023), which was organized by the Air Defense College in Alexandria in the current July of the year “2023”.
It included a comprehensive technical program that covered the latest research and innovations in the field of communications technologies. He added that four teams from the two faculties: “Engineering and Artificial Intelligence” at the university had participated in the projects competition at the conference.
Dr. Sherif pointed out that the participation in the conference was supported by Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mostafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.
The president of the Egyptian Russian University also added that the projects of the teams of the Egyptian Russian University were the focus of attention of the visitors in the competition due to the novelty of their topics and the quality of their implementation. He pointed out that the number of projects submitted for the competition amounted to (533) projects that were examined by arbitration committees including professors and scientists from various disciplines at the level of Egyptian universities and research centers to be filtered and to select (120) distinguished projects to enter the final stage.The four teams of the university succeeded in qualifying for this stage, and two of them got advanced positions.
In the same context, Dr. Alaa Al- Batsh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Egyptian Russian University, explained that the team of the “Department of Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering” at the faculty, which participated in the competition succeeded in obtaining the seventh place under the supervision of of Dr. Omar Abd El- Aziz, a lecturer in the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering. The team included the students:
“Mazen Ayman, Fathi Mohamed, Al- Sayed Sofi, Ahmed Reda, and Abd El-Rahman Kalifa.”
The title of the project was “A Self-Driving Vehicle for Navigation and Discovery of Unknown Environments.”
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Egyptian Russian University also stated that Dr. Tamer Saleh was chosen among the best arbitrators in the conference. He was selected as part of the projects arbitration committee in the final round. Dr. Tamer Saleh was honored with a souvenir and a certificate of appreciation from the Air Defense College at the honoring ceremony.
For his part, Dr. Hisham Fathy, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence at the Egyptian Russian University, confirmed that the faculty participated in two teams, one of them was under the supervision of of Dr. Tamer Saleh, a Lecturer in the Communications Department at the Faculty of Engineering, and the other team was under the supervision of Dr. Sameh Zarif, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence at the university.
The Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence explained that the team of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, under the supervision of Dr. Tamer Saleh, won the seventeenth place. The team included the students: “Nourhan Farid, El-Sayed Mohamed, and Abd El-Rahman Amer.” The title of the project was “Smart Agriculture and Pest Fighting.”
