Egyptian Russian University wins Grand Prize and First Place in Global Competition in China… Photos

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that Dr. Tamer Saleh, Executive Director of the Huawei Academy at the university and a doctor in the Communications Department at the Faculty of Engineering, won the Grand Prize as the best trainer across the continents in the field of training at Huawei academies in universities and institutes for the academic year (2024-2025). He was honored with the Grand Prize shield amid a grand celebration and warm welcome from Huawei managers and presidents at the conclusion of the Huawei ICT 2024-2025 Global Competition. Student Malak Ibrahim Mohamed, from the University’s College of Artificial Intelligence, also won first place globally in the “Computing Field” as part of the team representing Egypt in the field of computing at the ninth edition of this global competition, held from May 20 to 24, 2025, in Shenzhen, China. He added that these impressive results represent a new global achievement. The Huawei Academy’s record at the Russian Egyptian University reflects the capabilities and excellence of the university’s students, faculty members, and their assistants, particularly in the field of information and communications technology. He noted that participation in the competition was sponsored by Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.

 

On the same context, Dr. Hesham Fathy, Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence and Supervisor of the Huawei Academy at the university, confirmed that Dr. Tamer Saleh’s winning of the grand prize and student “Malak Ibrahim Mohamed”s winning of first place globally with her team in the “Computing” field was achieved with the participation of more than 210,000 students from more than 2,000 universities and educational institutions from (80) countries across continents, of which (179) teams from 48 countries qualified for the final stage of the competition amid strong global competition in Shenzhen, China.

 

The Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence and Supervisor of the Huawei Academy at the university added that the Egyptian teams have proven their worth and proficiency in all areas of the competition, which include: “Networks, Cloud Computing, Computing, and Innovation.” This reflects the rapid growth in Egypt’s digital capabilities and its leadership in technology and innovation. He noted that the university is proud to represent Egypt honorably in one of the world’s most prominent technology competitions, and wished all Egyptian teams continued success, looking forward to continuing the results that befit their efforts and excellence in the future.

For his part, Dr. Tamer Saleh, Executive Director of the Huawei Academy at the Egyptian-Russian University and a doctor in the Communications Department of the Faculty of Engineering, noted that the exceptional results achieved by the Egyptian teams from Egyptian universities that participated in the Huawei competition finals in China are strong evidence of Huawei’s commitment to developing future leaders in the field of information and communications technology and confirm the depth of digital skills in Egyptian educational institutions.

The Executive Director of the Huawei Academy at the Egyptian Russian University stated that we are pleased with the qualification of four Egyptian teams to participate in the global final stage of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025, which was held in Shenzhen, China, with the participation of more than 100 teams from around the world. He revealed that the Egyptian teams’ participation came after their excellence in the qualifying stages at the Egyptian and North African levels, where they achieved outstanding results, culminating in a grand prize, a first-place award in the “Computing” category, two second-place awards in the “Cloud Computing and Innovation” category, and a third-place award in the “Networking” category.

 

It is worth noting that Huawei’s global leadership honored the Egyptian Russian University delegation, led by Dr. Tamer Saleh, Executive Director of the Huawei Academy at the Egyptian Russian University, with a visit to the company’s headquarters in China and a meeting with the company’s core staff to discuss training affairs and any additional opportunities to enhance the training process and review the latest developments the company will be introducing in the coming period, the Huawei exhibition and the Polytechnic University, which prepares Huawei courses for students, as well as its research and development laboratories, were also visited.
