Dr. Sherif Fekry Mohamed Abdel Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering has successfully completed the discussion and evaluation of the graduation projects submitted by its students for the 2025/2026 academic year. The projects constitute a core graduation requirement and are designed to assess students’ ability to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout their years of study by presenting integrated architectural projects that meet academic and professional standards, preparing them to compete effectively in both the local and international job markets.

Dr. Sherif Fekry emphasized that, in addition to being a graduation requirement, these projects foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the fields of architecture and urban development. They receive continuous support from Dr. Mohamed Kamal El-Sayed Mostafa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Russian University. The projects also reflect the university’s strategic vision of transforming theoretical knowledge into practical applications that serve society and enhance quality of life. He noted that this year’s graduation projects focused on delivering innovative, smart, and sustainable architectural solutions that preserve the environment while addressing the evolving needs of society.

In the same context, Dr. Alaa El-Batsh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, stated that 17 students from the Department of Architecture presented and defended their graduation projects. Their work demonstrated remarkable diversity, creativity, and academic depth through a wide range of architectural proposals, including:

– Advanced hospitals and integrated healthcare and medical tourism facilities.
– Specialized craft centers and a music center.
– An exceptional humanitarian project entitled “Reconstruction of the Islamic University in the Gaza Strip,” reflecting the students’ strong national awareness and humanitarian values.

Dr. El-Batsh added that the projects were evaluated in a distinguished academic atmosphere by an external examination committee comprising a number of prominent professors of architecture from Egyptian universities, including:

– Dr. Ahmed Hosny Radwan, Professor of Architecture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Capital University (formerly Helwan University), and Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design at El Sewedy University.
– Dr. Ehab Mahmoud Bayoumi Okba, Professor of Architecture and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Fayoum University.
– Dr. Mohamed Emad Nour El-Din, Professor of Architecture at El-Mataria Faculty of Engineering and Head of the Architecture Department at Capital National University.
– Dr. Hossam El-Din Bakr Khalil, Professor of Architecture at the British University in Egypt.
– Dr. Gamal Mohamed Attia El-Khouly, Professor of Architecture at Ain Shams University.

For her part, Dr. Faten Labib Mohamed, Head of the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering, stated that the internal examination committee included Dr. Ahmed Helmy Nabil, Dr. Ahmed Samir Zaki, Dr. Zeinab Shaarawy, and Dr. Roqaya Farouk. She added that the students were supervised throughout their graduation project journey by a distinguished group of academics, including Dr. Osama Abou El-Enein from Port Said University, Dr. Ashraf Ahmed Ali El-Mahdawy from Capital University, and Dr. Magdy Qassem from Al-Azhar University.

She also highlighted the valuable contributions and continuous support provided by the department’s teaching assistants, namely: Eng. Reem Taher, Eng. Aya Mohamed, Eng. Basma Barakat, Eng. Bassam El-Sayed, Eng. Taqa Salah, and Eng. Ahmed Maher.

Dr. Faten Labib further noted that this year’s graduation projects were closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Egypt Vision 2030, particularly the goals related to quality education, sustainable cities and communities, innovation, academic partnerships, humanitarian awareness, and post-conflict reconstruction. She extended her sincere congratulations to the graduates, wishing them successful and distinguished professional careers, while reaffirming the Department of Architecture’s ongoing commitment to nurturing creative talents and preparing highly qualified graduates capable of leading the future of sustainable urban development.

In the same context, the jury members expressed their admiration for the outstanding academic and practical standard demonstrated by the students. They praised the students’ ability to effectively integrate architectural theories with innovative, real-world design solutions, confirming that graduates of the Egyptian Russian University are well prepared to compete successfully in the local, regional, and international labor markets.
