Glimpse of "Diarna for Handicrafts and Heritage" Exhibition at Egyptian Russian University
In support of handicrafts and heritage, and to encourage the university students to learn about traditional industries and authentic Egyptian products, the activities of “Diarna for Handicrafts and Heritage” Exhibition were launched. The event took place within the framework of ongoing coordination between the Egyptian Russian University and the Ministry of Social Solidarity to support handicrafts and heritage. It came under the patronage of Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Professor/ Dr. Sherif Fakhry, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), and under the supervision of Professor/ Dr. Mohamed El-Aqby, Assistant of the Minister of Social Solidarity for Strategic Communication and Media and General Coordinator of Social Solidarity Units at Egyptian Universities.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by Professor/ Dr. Essam Khamis, Advisor to ERU President for Academic Development, and Professor/ Dr. Bahaa Adnan Yehia, Assistant Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils and former President of Gilgamesh University in Iraq. It was also attended by prominent representatives of the Ministry of Social Solidarity. This reflects the cooperation and integration between the ERU and various educational institutions.
The four-day exhibition is held on campus, with the participation of 45 exhibitors, displaying products, which are suitable for students. The products include wooden items, decorative pieces, paintings reflecting authentic Egyptian style, inlaid home accessories, beauty products, ready-made clothing, and various cotton furnishings, in addition to Sinai’s distinctive craftsmanship, which is characterized by its magnificent designs and pottery works that reflect the skills and creativity of Egyptian craftsmen.
It is worth mentioning that thanks to the ERU that the “Our Homes for Handicrafts and Heritage” Exhibition has been launched in Egyptian universities. The exhibition is to be organized in the social solidarity units in various universities during the forthcoming period. The exhibition aims at raising awareness on handicrafts and encouraging students to participate in supporting Egyptian and local heritage products, as well as reinforcing the values of innovation and creativity in product design to keep pace with the needs of the student and modern market.
