Faculty of Pharmacy at Egyptian Russian University organizes an exhibition: “Green Mouth… Healthy Life” … photos
Dr. Sherif Fahkry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the university’s Faculty of Pharmacy organized an eco-friendly scientific exhibition titled “Green Mouth… Healthy Life,” in cooperation with the ERU’s Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine. This comes within the framework of the ERU’s adoption of “Egypt’s Vision 2030,” which aims at contributing to preserving public health, raising and spreading environmental awareness among students, and engraving in their minds the concept of sustainability. Dr. Sherif pinpointed that the exhibition was organized with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Al-Sayed Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.
In the same context, Dr. Mohamed Ehab Fattouh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the ERU, explained that the exhibition was organized with the aim of raising students’ awareness on sustainability concepts and reinforcing their skills in presenting scientific topics in an interactive manner, whereas the students committed to using eco-friendly, biodegradable and recyclable materials in their projects …
Dr. Sherif, in addition, stated that the exhibition featured many creative ideas that boded a generation of cadres able to achieve success and excel in the labor market. He also added that the exhibition was attended by many students from various faculties at the university, which made it possible to further disseminate the idea of environment conservation and the concepts related to sustainability.
In the same vein, Dr. Khaled Tawfeek, Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine at the ERU, confirmed that the exhibition included (31) student projects which addressed (13) scientific topics related to the oral microbiome and its effects on oral health and body. He pointed out that these projects were implemented in the form of three-dimension (3D) models, through joint cooperation between first year students from the Faculty of Dentistry, and second-year students from the Faculty of Pharmacy (“Pharm-D” and “Pharm-D Clinical” programs), as part of “General Microbiology and Immunology” course.
On his part, Dr. Gamil Abdullah, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the ERU, noted that fourth year students who join the Clinical Pharmacy Program also participated with supplementary projects on the same topics from the perspective of public health and clinical prevention. They designed interactive materials and educational competitions, in order to increase audience engagement and to raise health awareness, under the supervision of Dr. Shaymaa Nazeeh, Lecturer of the “General Health” course.
In a related context, Dr. Ahmed Samir, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine at the ERU, stated that the exhibition embodied a successful model of “interdisciplinary collaboration”, which is an educational vision presented by Dr. Karim Adel, a Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, which is supported by the faculty with the aim of developing teamwork skills and integrating various sciences to serve the community goals. He added that the exhibition was organized under the supervision of Dr. Tharwat Al-Khamisy, Head of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Faculty of Pharmacy.
It is worth mentioning that the activities of this exhibition were organized by the following assistant staff members at the Microbiology and Immunology Department: Assistant Lecturer / Mahab Shalaby, Assistant Lecturer / Omar Hassan, Assistant Lecturer / Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Assistant Lecturer / Noura Abdullah, Assistant Lecturer / Mohamed Taha, Pharmacist / Yehia Abd-el-Moneim, Pharmacist / Nagwa Usama, Pharmacist / Marah Hussein, Pharmacist / Rana Saad, and Pharmacist / Haidy Essam.
Concluding the event activities, Dr. Ehab Fattouh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the ERU, received the outstanding students at his office and honored them with eco-friendly certificates of appreciation, encouraging them to continue their commitment to sustainable practices throughout their educational journey.
