Dr. Sherif Fahkry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that a celebration was arranged for the conclusion of the “Summer Courses for Teaching Modern Technologies to Children” in the areas of “Programming, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.” The courses were presented by Huawei Academy for Children at the University for the second year in a row. This comes as part of the university’s interest in talented students to enhance the new generation’s awareness on future technologies and to invest in these talents in order to create a pool of competencies that are capable of keeping pace with technological developments. These courses also contribute to spreading the culture of digital transformation at early age and achieving “Egypt’s Vision 2030”. The courses were held with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Al-Sayed Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees. The courses targeted the children of Badr City and neighboring towns.
The President of the ERU stated that, within the framework of the university management’s strategy to support the community, especially for supporting talents, Huawei Academy at the university has taken an ambitious initiative in cooperation with Global Huawei Company, which aims to train (10) thousand trainees in various fields of artificial intelligence which suit any age group and any specialization. He pinpointed that Huawei has granted this large number of grants in Egypt to the ERU, which demonstrates the confidence of international companies in the availability of technological capacities and safe educational environment which encourages exploring and learning, and also their trust in the competence of the university’s faculty members.
In the same context, Dr. Hesham Fathy, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and General Supervisor of Huawei Academy at the ERU, explained that the first season began with a course on electronics, in which approximately (100) children whose ages range between 8 to 15 were trained. The children were divided within the course into (3) different age groups under the supervision of a group of competent trainers, led by Dr. Tamer Saleh, Director of the Academy, who had received Huawei Award for Best Trainer in the World.
The General Supervisor of Huawei Academy at the ERU pointed out that at the end of the first season, an opinion survey was conducted; and the analysis of the results of the survey resulted in a recommendation to open (3) new training tracks for children at the same age group from 15 to 8. These tracks are the programming course, robotics course, and AI course.
On his part, Dr. Tamer Saleh, Lecturer at the Communications Department at the Faculty of Engineering, and Executive Director of Training Fields at Huawei Academy at the ERU, asserted that the three tracks offered this summer are among the most prominent training courses currently in demand at the level of local, regional and international labor markets. These tracks contribute to developing children’s minds and thoughts and paving the way for learning and advancement in their academic and practical attainment. The training will be conducted at several levels, starting this year with the first level.
The Executive Director of Huawei Academy at the ERU added that the course was held over (6) weeks with the aim of developing the skills of young people in modern technological fields, and preparing a generation that is able to keep pace with the requirements of the future labor market. He emphasized that the most important activities and training that the children received during the course included: “Basic programming, robotics design, artificial intelligence, and practical application projects,” which reflected the children’s level of creativity and interaction.”
Dr. Tamer Saleh also stated that this summer the Academy is offering educational programs specifically designed to develop children’s skills in vital fields, including: “Programming: to enhance logical and creative thinking, Robotics: to develop designing and innovation skills, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).” He highlighted that these programs pave the way for children to understand and develop future technology and that the academy does not only offer courses for children, but also provides training on advanced Huawei technologies for adults.
The Executive Director of Huawei Academy at the ERU pointed out that the courses were organized at the university’s laboratories, and that the following contributed to the training implementation: Engineer / Asmaa Al-Sayed, Engineer / Eman Al-Shamy, and Engineer/ Mariam Awwad, in addition to the academy staff: Christina Fouad, Tasneem Nasr-el-Deen, and Esraa Hussein.
It is worth mentioning that the conclusion ceremony was organized with the help of the family members of Huawei Academy at the university, who helped the trainers in following up and caring for the children in order to achieve maximum benefit during the training. These students are: Hanem Said, Rawan Bedeir, Mazen Mahmoud, Saif El-Deen Wael, Mohamed Yasser, Youssef Mohamed, Omar Al-Sayed, Mariam Mohamed, Ghalia Mohamed, Abd-el-Rahman Aly, Abd-el-Sattar Hesham, Aannat-Allah Ayman, Mayar Salah, Mennat-Allah Aly, Roa’a Tariq, Habiba Ayman, Fatima Khaled, Nourhan Saber, Shaza Ahmed, Hamsa Hossam, Malak Ahmed, Aly Mohamed, Mohamed Abd-el-Baqy, Nouran Karam and Mustafa Ahmed.
The names of the honorees in the course were as follows:
- Gold medalists: Abd-el-Rahman Abd-el-Qader, Adam Abd-el-Muneim, Hazem Hossam, Farida Mohamed Fathy, Basel Amr Mohamed and Karim Ahmed Mohamed.
- Silver medalists: Sama Gamal, Maya Hossam-el-Deen, Nour-el-Deen Hesham, Gaydaa Raed, Arwa Mohamed Fathy and Mariam Islam Gamal.
3- Bronze medalists: Yassin Ahmed Talaat, Abdullah Ismail, Mahmoud Mohamed Qasim, Rodina Raed, Malika Abd-el-Muneim and Omar Ahmed Mohamed.
4- Honorees of the Academy’s course lecturers and coordinators: Mustafa Aly, Badr Sayed, Asmaa Al-Sayed, Mohamed Tawfik, Nourhan Al-Nady, Eman Al- Shamy, Mohamed Bakr, Merna Malak, Mahmoud Ibrahim, Salma Ashraf, Mariam Awad, and Israa Hussein.

6- On the sidelines of the ceremony, the graduates of the Functional Skills Course were honored. They are: Mahmoud Ahmed Mohsen, Abeer Ibrahim Ibrahim, Amany Ibrahim Abu-el-Ela, Mohamed Hossam Haydar, Safaa Abd-el-Wahab Hassan, Khaled Lotfy Mohamed, Safaa Hussein Abd-el-Karim, Hanan Sayed Ragab, Amira Mohamed Al-Sayed, Ahmed Mahmoud Aly, Al-Sayed Aly Al-Sayed, Neama Mohamed Gomaa, Heba Ibrahim Mohamed and Amal Fathy Abdullah.
It is worth noting as well that the conclusion ceremony was held in a joyful atmosphere. It was attended by an elite group of the university’s faculty members, parents of the participating children, and the 100 children participating in the courses.”
At the conclusion of the event, the Academy announced that the upcoming plan will include the launch of more training programs for children and adults in various areas, with the goal of expanding the base of beneficiaries and providing the largest possible number of students with the opportunity to hone their skills and develop their creativity in various scientific and technological disciplines.
