Reasons for the Visit of Huawei’s Global Leaders to the Egyptian Russian University
Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdelnabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the university campus welcomed a high-level delegation of executives and officials from Huawei Global Academies, led by Mr. Sun Gang, Director of Huawei Talent Partner Development, who arrived from the People’s Republic of China. The visit aimed to discuss potential cooperation between Huawei Global and the university in areas such as fostering talent, promoting modern technologies in telecommunications, and collaborating across various faculties of the university. He noted that these partnerships with Huawei position Egypt as a center of excellence and a talent bank for information and communications technology (ICT) in the region and the world. Additionally, they help create a bridge between outstanding talent and the job market. The visit was conducted under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Kamal El-Sayed Mostafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.
Mr. Sun Gang, Huawei’s Talent Partner Development Director at the Beijing headquarters, praised the academic facilities, educational programs, and advanced technological infrastructure at ERU. He highlighted that these contribute to achieving desired digital transformation goals. He also expressed his satisfaction with the Huawei Academy’s presence and activities at ERU over the past years, noting that its trainers are ranked among the top 10 nationwide. He mentioned that more advanced curricula in fields like network engineering, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and ICT will be prepared in the coming period.
In the same context, Dr. Hesham Fathy, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and General Supervisor of the Huawei Academy at ERU, stated that the Huawei delegation inspected the computer labs and classrooms on campus. The university was chosen as an official stop for the delegation’s visit to Egypt due to its remarkable progress and advanced ranking among Egyptian universities’ academies. This includes its significant developments and the application of Huawei’s training courses. Discussions during the visit focused on the training programs and courses provided by Huawei as part of a mutual cooperation agreement to train students and enhance the skills of lecturers in areas like network engineering, cloud computing, AI, and ICT.
Dr. Tamer Saleh, Executive Director of the Huawei Academy at ERU, revealed that discussions addressed the challenges faced by trainers and trainees in teaching the curricula. Suggestions for improvements and requirements to enhance the efficiency of the courses were documented. He also disclosed plans to add more qualifying training courses and explore new fields in digital cloud curriculum training, aligning with Huawei’s entry into the Egyptian market in this area. The meetings aimed to contribute to building a “bank of outstanding human capabilities” in ICT while supporting youth capacity building in this field, in line with the state’s digital transformation strategy.
