The Egyptian Russian University announces the accreditation of the Construction Engineering program by the Education Quality Assurance Authority.. photos

     Professor / Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the “Construction Engineering” program at the university’s Faculty of Engineering has obtained accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education “NAQAAE.” According to the decision of the Authority’s board of directors in its last session, the number of accredited programs within the faculty has amounted to three. He highlighted that this step was reached with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Al-Sayed Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.

     The ERU President added that granting this accreditation to the “Construction Engineering” program comes as a fruit of the efforts exerted by the work team of the “Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center” at the university as well as the Quality Assurance Unit, and all faculty members and assistants in the “Construction Engineering” Department, under the supervision of the Head of Department, Dr. Fatma Shaltoot. These efforts aimed at enrooting the culture and mechanisms of quality in the program. It is worth mentioning that this accreditation is valid for five academic years until it is renewed again in accordance with the Authority’s requirements.

     Furthermore, the ERU President pointed out that the issuance of this program accreditation is considered an acknowledgment by the National Authority for Educational Quality Assurance and Accreditation that the “Construction Engineering” program, at the Faculty of Engineering at the ERU provides engineering education in accordance with the quality standards. The academic accreditation standards include various aspects of engineering education, such as the strength of the curriculum, the adequacy and efficiency of faculty members, the fulfillment of graduation requirements, the faculty’s research and educational efforts, community service programs, the method used in management and resources, the level of the students and graduates, the facilities and equipment in the faculty’s scientific departments, in addition to other requirement of the higher education quality.

 

     In the same vein, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the ERU, Dr. Alaa Mohamed Al-Batsh, highlighted that the obtaining of this accreditation by the “Construction Engineering” program comes as a culmination of the constructive and fruitful cooperation between all members of the system at the levels of the program, the faculty and the university as a whole. It is the result of harmonious cooperation between the program’s quality team, the quality unit at the faculty level, and the quality center at the university level. It has also been the fruit of the support of the university presidency and the Board of Trustees in providing all the requirements and needs of the program and the faculty. Dr. Al-Batsh added that the National Authority for Educational Quality Assurance and Accreditation had previously accredited two programs: Communications Engineering and Mechatronics & Robotics Engineering in September 2022.

     His Excellency also extended thanks and appreciation from the Faculty of Engineering members to the University Secretary-General, Ms. Ekram Abd-el-Hamid, and all heads and members of the central and supporting departments, for all the effective help and support which they provide to overcome all obstacles, which has contributed to achieving the best results. He stated that the faculty is waiting for the result of the visit to the faculty’s architectural engineering program. He asserted that work is going on to provide a graduate who keeps pace with the requirements of the “local, regional and international” labor markets, in accordance with the “vision of the plan of the state “2030” for the advancement of the Egyptian society. He stated that accrediting the faculty programs will contribute to raising the regional and international ranking of the university in general.

     The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the ERU stressed that they work on the continuation of that series of successes by accrediting the rest of the faculty’s programs in order to provide a graduate who keeps pace with the requirements of the “vision of the plan of the state “2030” for the advancement of the Egyptian and Arab societies. He has made it clear that the decision of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) came after a visit during which the authority made sure that the faculty and university possess modern and advanced capacities and infrastructure, as well as distinguished curricula, teaching methods, programs and services, in addition to genuine interest in activating student activities in various areas.

 

     For her part, the Head of the Construction Engineering Department, Dr. Fatma Shaltoot, stated that the “Construction Engineering Program” at the faculty is distinguished by the fact that it relies on the application of technological and scientific knowledge in planning, managing, constructing, and restoring facilities such as: “buildings, highways, bridges, airports, factories, and tanks.” The construction engineering combines the specializations of civil engineering and project management, which together provide a combination of controls and management in project implementation… She pointed out that the faculty and university administration provide all means of support for the activities which link theoretical study to the practical aspect, and work on developing the students’ skills, expanding their awareness and experience, and preparing them for joining the labor market.

     In this context, and coinciding with the accreditation of the “Construction Engineering Program,” Dr. Fatma Shaltoot announced the launch of the department’s scientific association under the name “New Vision,” with the aim of identifying and discovering students with scientific interests, developing their scientific and innovative thinking, organizing scientific competitions, and creating a competitive environment among students for find innovative solutions to the challenges which exist in real life … She also pointed out that, in order to activate the role of the association, the scientific society has organized, in a festive atmosphere, its first event, which is a scientific competition under the title: Best Connection Model (BCM) – “Best Connection Made of Cardboard.”

 

     Eight teams of students from the faculties of Engineering, Fine Arts, and Applied Arts at the university took part in the competition. The judging committee consisted of faculty members from the Department of Construction Engineering: Dr. Omnia Farouk, Dr. Aly Al-Refai, Dr. Ghada Gamal and Dr. Mohamed Gamal, in the presence of a large number of faculty members, supporting staff and students from various departments.

The first place was won by MYH Team, consisting of the following students: Yasser Mohie, Hassan Wael, Mayar Aahdy, Mohamed Mohsen and Mohamed Hassan.

The second place was won by Triple A Team, consisting of the following students: Mahmoud Bedewy, Al-Haytham Aly, Khaled Soiman, Hossam Mohamed and Omar Magdy.

And as for the third place, it was won by The Boss Team that consists of the following students: Mohamed Al-Sayed, Ahmed Hesham and Ahmed Mahmoud Megahid.
