The Egyptian Russian University Receives A delegation of Kuwaiti Plastic Artists

Supported by Dr. Muhammad Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that the university received some members of the Kuwaiti Plastic Artists, headed by Professor Ali Al-Awad, head of the Plastic Arts Sector in the Syndicate of Media and Artists. The delegation participated in the celebration of launching the faculties of Fine Arts and Applied Arts for the current academic year (2022-2023).

The President of the Egyptian Russian University added that the program of the Kuwaiti delegation’s visit to the university campus included a visit to: “The Museum of the Faculty of Applied Arts, the studio of the Faculty of Fine Arts, the laboratories, workshops and studios of the two faculties, a free tour to see the university’s facilities, and to take some memorial photos. At the end of the visit, the delegation members participated in planting the “art tree” on campus as a symbol of love, friendship, development and continuous growth. ERU president added that one of the goals of this visit is to strengthen ties between the faculty members of the art faculties and plastic artists in the State of Kuwait, to exchange experiences and increase joint cooperation.

In the same context, Dr. Safia El-Kabbani, ERU president consultant for Visual Arts, confirmed that the university administration aims to have distinguished graduates and researchers from the faculties of Fine Arts and Applied Arts who are able to develop their creativity as well as their technological skills to provide specialized technical services and consultations that meet the needs of the Local, regional, and international labor market. The art faculties are able to achieve this through keeping pace with the most modern educational programs, as art in all its colors and types reflects culture, civilizations and history of peoples, as well as images of nature, beauty and the environment of any country.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Orabi, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Egyptian Russian University, explained during the delegation’s visit that the faculty grants a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the following distinguished disciplines:
1- Digital Media Arts Department, in the following areas:
• Animation.
• Digital Game & Entertainment Design.
Motion Design.
2- Environmental Design Department in the following areas:
• Architecture & Landscape Design.
• Interior Architecture & Furnishing.
Scenography.
3- Visual Arts Department in the following fields:
• Painting & Mixed Media.
• Sculpture & Installation in space.
• Professional Edition “Printmaking”.
• Photography.
4- Toys & Model Games Design.
5- Visual Communication Arts Department, in the following areas:
• Advertising Design.
Graphic Design.
• Illustrations.

Dr. Ezz El-Din Abdelaziz, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts at the Egyptian Russian University, indicated that the duration of study in the faculty is five years with the credit hour system, the first year of which is “preparatory” and the four remaining years are for majors in scientific departments. The faculty includes (7) departments, namely: “Interior Design and furniture, Printing and Packaging, Fashion and Apparel, Photography, Cinema and Television, Industrial Design, and Textile Engineering. Sculpture, and Architecture. Other departments will be activated soon like: “Advertisement, Iron and Metal Constructions, Metal Products and Ornaments and Ceramics.

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Muhammad Abdel Nabi, the University President, during the activities of the visit of the Kuwaiti delegation, honored Dr. Nabil Al-Failakawi, the chairman of the Syndicate of Media and Artists in Kuwait, Professor Ali Al-Awad, Head of the Plastic Arts Sector in Syndicate of Media and Artists in Kuwait, Dr. Abeer Al-Kandari, Professor Dalal Malak, and Professor Fahd Al-Najjar, who are members of the Plastic Arts Sector in Kuwait.

Among the plastic artists in the sisterly State of Kuwait were: Nora Al-Marri, Awatif Kakouli, and Ibtisam Matar. The event was also attended by members of the Egyptian Plastic Artists Syndicate Board of Directors like: Dr. Mervat Al-Swaify, Dr. Hanan Samir, Eng. Medhat Ahmed, Eng. Mustafa Ghoneim, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Karim, Dr. Wael Farouk, Dr. Tariq Abdel Aziz, and a number of deans and faculty members.
