The Egyptian Russian University Wins a Silver Medal in the Universities Athletics Championship

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdelnaby, President of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that, in line with the university’s active role in developing students’ life and physical skills and empowering them to balance academic study with sports—thereby promoting the concept of comprehensive education and personality development—the university is keen to participate in various sports competitions. It also takes part annually in all fields of the “Martyr Ibrahim El-Refai Championship,” organized by the Universities Sports Federation at the level of Egyptian universities under the patronage of the Ministries of Higher Education & Scientific Research and Youth & Sports.
He pointed out that the university’s participation this year in the 53rd edition of the championship, which was held as an organizational and technical simulation model for the African University Games scheduled to be hosted by Egypt in August 2026, achieved a notable sports accomplishment in athletics. Student Zahwa Mohamed Abdel Fattah from the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine won second place and the silver medal in the 100-meter hurdles event. In addition, student Ahmed Mohamed Abu El-Magd from the Faculty of Engineering achieved remarkable results by securing fourth place in the long jump and fifth place in the 110-meter hurdles. He also noted that the university’s participation in the championship was supported by Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mostafa, Chairman of the University Board, due to his commitment to supporting all forms of student activities inside and outside the campus.
In the same context, Dr. Hanaa Abdelrahman, Advisor to the President of the Egyptian Russian University for Student Activities, confirmed that the university administration is keen on supporting all types of student activities both on and off campus. The university continuously seeks institutional partnerships aimed at building youth capacities—especially with the Universities Sports Federation—in order to provide a healthy competitive environment for students, strengthen social relations, enhance bonds among students of the university’s faculties and other universities, motivate them to continue academic success, and graduate honorable generations characterized by seriousness and responsibility. She praised the honorable appearance and outstanding level demonstrated by the university’s students, as well as their high spirit and performance, which enabled them to secure these advanced positions. She also commended the efforts of the Youth Welfare Administration at the university and its role in discovering and nurturing talented and distinguished students in all sports activities, whether individual or team sports, and supporting them in winning championships under the supervision of a distinguished group of supervisors and sports coaches from within the university.
For his part, Captain Mohamed Abdullah Mostafa, Director of the Central Youth Welfare Administration at the Egyptian Russian University, stated that the Youth Welfare Administration extends its congratulations to the entire university community in general, and to the students Zahwa Mohamed Abdel Fattah and Ahmed Mohamed Abu El-Magd in particular, for this great achievement.
He further expressed his happiness at winning second place and the silver medal, in addition to other advanced positions, in the most important sports championship in which all Egyptian universities and higher institutes compete as part of the preparation and simulation for the African Universities Championship in August 2026, and for raising the Egyptian Russian University flag on the podium.
