The Faculty of Applied Arts at the Egyptian-Russian University Organizes a Furniture Workshop: Between Design and Implementation... Photos
Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel-Nabi, President of the Egyptian-Russian University, announced that, in line with its commitment to providing applied education that meets international quality standards, the Faculty of Applied Arts organized a specialized workshop entitled “Furniture: Between Design and Implementation.” The event was held with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mostafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, and featured Eng. Amr Aransa, Design Director at Pinocchio Furniture Company, as the keynote speaker, who shared his field experience with the students. Dr. Sherif Fakhry added that these events embody the vision and strategy of the Egyptian-Russian University, which places sustainable development goals at the heart of its curriculum, particularly with regard to empowering young people with modern technical skills that support a knowledge and innovation -based national economy.
In the same context, Dr. Ezz El-Din Abdel Aziz Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts at the Egyptian-Russian University, stated that the workshop contributed to building the scientific, artistic, and applied knowledge related to furniture and design theories relevant to the disciplines and fields of applied arts. He explained that this workshop aligns with the faculty’s strategy of adopting diverse teaching and learning methods that rely primarily on practical and applied experience to develop students’ skills.
The Dean added that the workshop targeted third-year students in the Interior Design and Furniture Department and was sponsored by Dr. Sarah Fahmy, Head of the Interior Design and Furniture Department, and coordinated by Dr. Walid Moussa. He explained that the workshop focused on bridging the technical gap between initial design plans and the actual manufacturing steps, thus empowering students to innovate and understand the operational mechanisms within major industrial companies.
Dr. Ezz El-Din Abdel Aziz Hassan explained that these activities enrich students’ cumulative knowledge base, increase their opportunities to engage with diverse career paths after graduation, and enhance their innovative design projects during their studies. This is further supported by the university’s distinguished faculty, possessing the highest level of academic and research expertise, which strengthens students’ job prospects and enriches their innovative capabilities.
The workshop concluded with the honoring of Engineer Amr Aransa in recognition of his valuable contribution. The college affirmed its commitment to continue this fruitful collaboration with the industrial sector to set up a generation of innovative designers capable of driving the knowledge-based national economy and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets.
