The Faculty of Fine Arts at the Egyptian Russian University Organizes Several Educational Seminars for Students – With Photos
Dr. Mohamed Arabi, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Egyptian Russian University, announced that the faculty administration held several educational seminars for students of different levels. These seminars included an introduction to the AYDA AWARD competition, a lecture on Drama from an Urban Perspective, and a session on Meanings and Heritage Values. These initiatives aimed to enhance students’ academic talents and experiences. He noted that these seminars were supported by Dr. Mohamed Kamal El-Sayed Mostafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, and were held under the patronage of Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel Nabi, President of the University.
The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Egyptian Russian University stated that the first seminar focused on the AYDA AWARD competition. This initiative aligns with the faculty’s efforts to encourage students to participate in international competitions that enhance their knowledge and develop their skills within their respective fields. He highlighted that AYDA AWARD is one of the largest global competitions, currently held in more than 20 countries worldwide, and is organized by Nippon Paint Company.
Dr. Mohamed Arabi emphasized that the seminar covered several key topics, including:

– A review of this year’s main competition theme, which focuses on preserving cultural heritage through modern influences.
– A detailed explanation of participation mechanisms, evaluation criteria, and judging standards.
In a different context, the Dean mentioned that another seminar was held on “Drama from an Urban Perspective,” as part of the faculty’s commitment to enriching academic content and integrating different disciplines. The seminar was presented by Dr. Heba Mahrous, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, and a member of the Arab Council for Culture and Heritage.
Dr. Mohamed Arabi added that the seminar highlighted the complementary relationship between architecture and drama and covered several key aspects, including:
– The impact of outdoor scenery on dramatic scenes.
– Utilizing exterior locations in artistic productions.
– The interaction between architecture and drama as a storytelling tool.
– The importance of integrating artistic and architectural disciplines, with case studies of notable dramatic works.
On another note, the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Egyptian Russian University announced that a lecture on “Meanings and Heritage Values” was also conducted in collaboration with Studio Cairo for Urbanism and was delivered by Engineer Salem Hussein, the platform’s founder.
He added that the lecture aimed to provide a comprehensive vision of the importance of heritage in its various forms, emphasizing the formation of cultural identity and explaining sustainable preservation and reuse mechanisms in line with modern requirements.
Dr. Mohamed Arabi revealed that the lecture covered several topics, including:
– An introduction to heritage and its types, with a focus on tangible and intangible heritage.
