Towards a Sustainable Architectural Future: ERU Students Innovate Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation
In line with ongoing efforts to consolidate the concepts of green architecture and climate change adaptation, the Department of Architectural Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Egyptian Russian University, organized an outstanding exhibition featuring the projects of second-year students for the “Environmental Control and Design” course. The event was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Batsh, Dean of the Faculty, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Faten Mohamed Labib, Head of the Department.
The exhibition showcased the work of 17 students divided into 4 groups. They presented 4 innovative architectural projects that seamlessly blend functional quality with aesthetic appeal. The proposed design solutions focused on sustainability mechanisms, most notably:
* Maximizing natural daylighting.
* Implementing cross-ventilation systems.
* Advanced thermal insulation solutions.
* Passive cooling strategies.
Embodying the principles of recycling, the students also presented a diverse collection of handcrafts made from repurposed materials. This reflected their advanced environmental awareness and their distinguished approach to architectural analysis and presentation.
The projects were evaluated by a jury panel consisting of: Dr. Ahmed Samir Zaki, T.A. Reem Taher, and T.A Sara Abo Sabaa. The panel praised the students’ advanced academic standards, wishing them continued success and excellence in their academic and professional careers.
