Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel-Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that—supporting the state’s efforts to promote a culture of occupational safety and health and to secure the work environment across all institutions in various sectors to protect workers and organizations from workplace hazards and to provide a safe and stable work climate—the university hosted the activities of the “Your Safety Matters” initiative on campus.
The initiative was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour led by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Gebran, Minister of Labour.
The University President explained that this initiative comes as part of the university’s strategy to enhance its emergency preparedness, reduce risks, and train administrative and technical staff on protection and prevention procedures. This is fully supported by Dr. Mohamed Kamal El-Sayed Mostafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.
In this context, Counselor Khaled Abdullah Abdelkader, Advisor to the Minister of Labour for Occupational Safety and Health, stated that the aim of the “Your Safety Matters” initiative is to raise awareness of occupational safety and health culture among employees in all state sectors, as well as university students and school pupils, in order to protect the lives of all citizens—both workers in the public and private sectors and non-workers. He emphasized the crucial role of educational institutions in applying safety and security standards and promoting such culture across all segments of society.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Omar Hendy, Head of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee and Director of the Quality Assurance Department at the Egyptian Russian University, delivered a presentation on the procedures followed to prevent risks on campus, as well as the role of academic and educational institutions in supporting the state’s plans for occupational safety and health. He praised the fruitful cooperation between the university administration, the Labour Directorate in Cairo Governorate, and the Occupational Safety and Health Office in Badr City in the successful organization of the “Your Safety Matters” initiative.
He noted that the university has obtained ISO certifications 14001 and 45001 in environmental management and occupational health and safety.
Dr. Hendy further stated that hosting the initiative’s activities on campus affirms the Egyptian Russian University’s commitment to the directives of the political leadership and its support for the state’s efforts to protect the safety of staff and students. He added that the initiative has contributed to enhancing safety and prevention culture and raising awareness levels, which positively impacts the working environment within the university.

Dr. Hanan, Director General of the General Administration for Occupational Safety and Health in Cairo;
Mr. Mosad El-Lebeidy, Director of the National Center for Occupational Safety and Health in Cairo;
Eng. Sanaa Ali, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Office in Badr City;
a number of faculty deans, academic staff members, employees, students, leaders of the Ministry of Labour and the Safety Office in Badr City, as well as representatives of many companies and factories from various sectors in Badr City.
It is worth noting that the organization and implementation of the initiative were carried out by:
