Faculty of Fine Arts at the Egyptian Russian University Amazes the Public with the Mural “The Return of Nefertiti”
In a unique artistic event that blends the authenticity of Egyptian heritage with the technologies of the future, the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Egyptian Russian University unveiled a large-scale mural entitled “The Return of Nefertiti.” The project was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Araby, Dean of the Faculty, as part of the activities of the Third Forum for Creative Interaction and Community Engagement.
The artwork witnessed the inspiring participation of 40 male and female students, who successfully transformed a 40-square-meter façade into a vibrant, life-filled masterpiece. The project was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Sherif Shokry, with direct artistic guidance from artist Mohamed Gamal, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Visual Arts.
The mural was far more than a traditional painting; it represented a true artistic challenge, distinguished by:
Impressive height: The execution required the use of a suspended hydraulic lift to reach a height of 8 meters.
Rich color palette: A colored imaging technique using 22 different colors was employed to ensure precision of details and highlight the aesthetic beauty of the Pharaonic face.
Technological dimension: The mural was integrated with Virtual Reality (VR) technology, allowing viewers to experience an interactive visual journey that goes beyond the limits of a static artwork.
The project organizers emphasized that the choice of Nefertiti symbolizes the return of beauty, strength, and Egyptian identity. They noted that the work falls within the “Creative Interaction” course, which aims to engage students in field projects that serve the surrounding environment and foster a spirit of community participation.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of visual artists, academics, and university leaders, who praised the high professional standard of the work and the successful integration of modern technology in the service of visual arts.
