Bridging the Gap Between Education and the Labor Market: 90 ERU Students Visit Military Factory 144

In a proactive step aimed at enhancing the practical skills of its students, the Faculty of Engineering at the Egyptian Russian University (ERU) organized a scientific field trip for students from the “Mechatronics and Robotics” and “Communications Engineering” departments to the Benha Company for Electronic Industries (Military Factory 144), an affiliate of the Ministry of Military Production.
The trip included 90 students and was held under the academic supervision of Dr. Omar Fathi (Mechatronics Department), with the assistance of Eng. Hassan Kahla and Eng. Tasneem Hegazy, teaching assistants at the department. The visit aimed to introduce students to the latest technologies used in national industrial strongholds and to link academic curricula with real-world applications.
The university delegation was warmly received by the Chairman of the Board and the General Manager of Training. The visit commenced in the Grand Reception Hall with a documentary film showcasing the factory’s long-standing history, its pivotal role in advanced industries, and its cutting-edge production lines.
During the three-hour tour, students visited several vital sectors, most notably:
• Electronic Circuit Department: Where students observed the design and manufacturing phases of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for various industrial circuits.
• Renewable Energy Sector: Exploring the technology behind manufacturing different types of solar panels.
• Automated Control Systems: Inspecting modern machinery and production lines operated by the latest Numerical Control (NC) units.
The students expressed great pride in the advanced technology and the highly qualified Egyptian personnel they witnessed within the factory. They emphasized that seeing the production lines and machinery firsthand significantly deepened their understanding of their scientific studies. At the conclusion of the visit, commemorative photos were taken, and the students extended their gratitude to the factory management and the university for providing this invaluable opportunity, expressing their hope for more fruitful educational visits in the future.
