Optimal Use of Antibiotics at the Egyptian Russian University Pharmacy Faculty – Photos
Dr. Sherif Fekry Mohamed Abdel Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University, announced that the Faculty of Pharmacy organized an interactive scientific exhibition on the rational use of antibiotics and gut health entitled “Antimicrobial Stewardship.” The event was held as part of the university’s commitment to promoting health awareness and linking medical sciences to contemporary community issues.
He added that the exhibition was supported by Dr. Mohamed Kamal El-Sayed Mostafa, Chairman of the University Board of Trustees, and aligns with the university’s strategy of supporting student activities, promoting public health both inside and outside the university, and providing an educational environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
In the same context, Dr. Mohamed Ehab Fotouh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Egyptian Russian University, explained that the exhibition addressed the importance of the proper use of antibiotics and the impact of their misuse on antimicrobial resistance and gut microbiota imbalance. It also highlighted the relationship between the gut-brain axis, mental and psychological health, and the role of nutrition, probiotics, and prebiotics in supporting digestive health.
The Dean further noted that the exhibition was organized in cooperation with the University’s Moral Support and Psychological Counseling Center and under the patronage of Dr. Shehata Gharib, Advisor to the University President for Institutional Development and Head of the Moral Support and Psychological Counseling Center, and Dr. Hanaa Abdel Rahman, Advisor to the University President for Student Activities. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to developing students’ scientific and awareness-raising skills, encouraging active community engagement, and promoting mental and psychological well-being both within and beyond the university through various activities and community initiatives.
Dr. Mohamed Ehab Fotouh stated that the exhibition aimed to support practical activities that help students communicate medical concepts in a simple and innovative manner while enhancing their communication skills. He pointed out that the Faculty’s Community Service and Environmental Development Committee participated in organizing the event as part of its role in spreading health awareness among students and the wider community.
The exhibition was conducted under the academic supervision of Dr. Tharwat El-Khamisy, Head of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and Course Coordinator, with the participation of Teaching Assistant Mohamed Taha and Demonstrator Marwa Hussein.
The Dean also revealed that the exhibition featured interactive educational displays designed to simplify complex scientific concepts, such as probiotics and prebiotics, and connect them to products available on the market. This approach contributes to improving health literacy among the campaign’s target audience. In addition, the exhibition included educational activities that presented scientific information in a practical and enjoyable manner, encouraging students to develop creative ways of transforming medical concepts into accessible and impactful public awareness content.
