Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the university’s Faculty of Pharmacy organized an interactive awareness campaign titled “Mind Under Infection.” This initiative conforms with the university’s strategy to raise health and psychological awareness and to reinforce the role of student activities in serving the community, achieving sustainable development goals, and realizing Egypt’s Vision 2030. This is in order to ensure sustainable health and psychological well-being for all. Dr. Sherif pinpointed that the campaign was organized with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Al-Sayed Mostafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, and was attended by Dr. Shehata Gharib, Advisor to the University President for Institutional Development and Head of the University’s Center for Moral Support and Psychological Counseling, as well as Dr. Hanaa Abd-el-Rahman, Advisor to the University President for Student Activities.

In the same vein, Dr. Mohamed Ehab Fattouh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the ERU, highlighted that this campaign was not merely a conventional student activity, but its goals directly aligned with key UN’s sustainable development goals. The campaign focused primarily on raising awareness on mental and psychological health, which is part and parcel of overall health well-being. The campaign achieved this goal through addressing the transmission of brain-affecting viruses and parasites, as well as symptoms, prevention, and treatment. Through this initiative, students contributed to spreading a culture of prevention that curbs the spread of disease and supports mental well-being both within and outside the university. Dr. Fattouh pointed out that the campaign reflects the faculty administration’s commitment to encouraging student initiatives which serve the community and contribute to disseminating health awareness in a simple and effective manner.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the ERU stated that the campaign aims at supporting students in applying academic knowledge to serve the community and linking medical sciences with contemporary health and psychological issues. He added that the Faculty’s Community Service and Environmental Development Committee took part in organizing the event, in line with its role of supporting awareness-raising activities and purposeful community initiatives.

Dr. Mohamed Ehab Fattouh asserted that the campaign was organized under the academic supervision of Dr. Tharwat Al-Khamisy, Head of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and Dr. Dalia Al-Damasy, Assistant Professor in the same department, with the participation of the department’s supporting staff: Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Al-Khateeb and Teaching Assistant Marah Hussein.

On his part, Dr. Gamil Abdullah, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs at the ERU’s Faculty of Pharmacy, revealed that the campaign tackled various viruses and parasites that can affect the brain as well as mental and psychological health. Students simplified scientific information concerning ways of transmission, symptoms, prevention, and treatment through innovative educational flyers and direct awareness-raising activities within and outside the university campus.

The Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs at the ERU’s Faculty of Pharmacy, indicated that students’ reliance on interactive ideas and innovative visual aids helped convey information more clearly and effectively. He added that these methods succeeded in engaging different targeted groups and facilitated their understanding of scientific messages, which demonstrated the youth’s ability to direct positive community change and shape a future that is healthier and more well-informed.
