Architectural graduation projects with developmental vision at Egyptian Russian University to serve society
Within the framework of supporting the educational process and linking it to the society needs, under the auspices of Professor / Dr. Sherif Fakhry, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), Professor / Dr. Alaa El-Batsh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Professor / Dr. Faten Labib Mohamed, Head of the Department of Architecture, graduation projects for the academic year 2024-2025 were discussed, whereas (21) distinguished graduation projects were presented. The selection of such projects was a reflection of the trend towards achieving sustainable development and serving the local community.
The projects addressed topics that are directly related to the community needs. Some of them were part of real projects which are included in the state’s plan for community development, while others were proposals presented by the students under close academic guidance by the course’s professors: Dr. Osama Abu-el-Einen, Dr. Mohamed Emad Nour-el-Deen, Dr. Magdy Mohamed Qassem, Dr. Ahmed Helmy Nabil, and Dr. Zeinab Shaarawy Sabrah, with the aim to offer creative solutions to some real community challenges.
The projects were divided into six main axes:
* Axis One: Seven projects for establishing hospitals (a general hospital, one specialized in pediatric care, and a project for rebuilding a hospital at Gaza Strip(
* Axis Two: Seven projects for establishing technological universities
* Axis Three: Two projects for research centers in the area of renewable energy
* Axis Four: Two projects for establishing sport clubs
* Axis Five: Two projects for establishing public libraries
* Axis Six: One project for establishing a simulation museum of human history
The discussions were conducted in a distinguished academic atmosphere, with the participation of an elite group of senior professors and specialists in the field of architecture from several Egyptian universities. The list of members of the jury committees runs as follows:

The jury members paid tribute to the presented projects, which reflected a distinguished level of creative thinking and scientific application. They emphasized the importance of continuing to direct the efforts of research and architectural design toward serving community issues and activating the role of universities as a principal driver of development.
