Egyptian Russian University celebrates 43rd Sinai Liberation Day in the presence of heroes… photos
The Egyptian Russian University (ERU) organized a great celebration on the occasion of the (43rd) anniversary of Sinai Liberation Day, commemorating this important and inspiring event. The celebration was attended by a number of leaders of the armed forces, former war heroes, a group of executive and popular leaders, prominent figures of Higher Education and members of the university’s faculty, at the hall of the late Dr. Sherif Helmy, with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, and under the auspices of Dr. Sherif Fahkry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, ERU President.
At the beginning of the celebration, Dr. Sherif Fahkry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, ERU President, welcomed the attendance of: Major General Dr. Mohamed Zaky Al-Alfy, Professor of Military Strategy at Nasser Military Academy for Post-graduate Studies, Dr. Usama Abd-el-Fattah, Executive Director of the Project of Social Solidarity Units at Egyptian Universities, on behalf of Dr. Mohamed Al-Aqby, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Strategic Communication and Media, Brigadier General / Ayman Keshk, Head of the Military Education Teaching Group at the ERU, and all the attendees.
ERU President asserted that the anniversary of the liberation of Sinai will continue to be a symbol of the Egyptians’ steadfastness and strong will, and to embody the true meaning of the solidarity of all the Egyptian state components, whereas Egypt restored the entire land of Sinai thanks to the efforts of the sons of the nation, including: “men of the armed forces, diplomats, professors of international law and history, politicians, and others.” He stated that this glorious anniversary is a source of inspiration for future generations to continue the journey of construction and development. Dr. Sherif thanked all the attendees for their participation in this celebration, which the university was keen to hold in order to reinforce the sense of belonging among the university students, raise their awareness and national culture, consolidate the importance of their participation in the development process, and to remind them of the history of the Egyptian people’s struggle and the endless heroism of the valiant men of the “Armed Forces.”
In the same context, Dr. Usama Abd-el-Fattah, Executive Director of the Project of Social Solidarity Units at Egyptian Universities, thanked the university leadership for the generous invitation and for holding such a great event for raising the students’ awareness on the heroic deeds of their ancestors, which led to the complete restoration of all Egyptian territories. He pinpointed that we should not treat the anniversary of the Liberation of Sinai as a historical event, but rather as an opportunity to emphasize the importance of all components of the Egyptian state uniting to confront challenges and promote the values of belonging and loyalty to the homeland…
On his part, Major General / Dr. Mohamed Zaky Al-Alfy, Professor of Military Strategy at Nasser Military Academy for Post-graduate Studies, stated that Sinai is a land which was irrigated with the blood of our fathers and grandfathers until it was fully restored, especially after the epic victory of the great October War and its immortal stories of heroism, glory and success. He affirmed that we, as Egyptians, have been celebrating the anniversary of the Liberation of Sinai for the (43) years so far, in order to draw inspiration from its victories, and enhance among the new generation “the belief in our nation’s capacity, God willing, to triumph in all fields, with seriousness and perseverance, meticulous organization, good follow-up, and self-sacrifice,” and to make it clear in their minds that these values are the basis for success and goal accomplishment.
In the same vein, Dr. Hanaa Abd-el-Rahman, Advisor to the ERU President for Student Activities, stated that the university administration is keen to organize numerous annual national celebrations and educational seminars, and hosts many influential figures in different disciplines to shape the students’ national awareness and reinforce within them the values and spirit of loyalty and belonging. She added that our national celebrations will always remain a source of pride and honor for Egyptians at all the institutions of the Egyptian state, which represent the nation’s shield and fortress against any attempts to tamper with its land, security, or stability throughout history.
On the same topic, Israa Hassan, Protection and Empowerment Director at the Social Solidarity Unit at the ERU, stated that the purpose of this celebration is to celebrate the accomplishments of the nation’s people and to convey a message to the students that Egypt’s leaders and people are the ones who triumphed, liberated the land, and restored the nation’s dignity before the whole world.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Sherif Fahkry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, ERU President, honored: “Dr. Usama Abd-el-Fattah, Executive Director of the Project of Social Solidarity Units at Egyptian Universities and Major General / Dr. Mohamed Zaky Al-Alfy, Professor of Military Strategy at Nasser Military Academy for Post-graduate Studies, for honoring the ceremony with their presence and for their distinguished efforts for our precious homeland of Egypt.”
The (43rd) Sinai Liberation Anniversary celebrations were also attended by: “Dr. Mohamed Ehab Fattouh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Hesham Fathy, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Mohamed Oraby, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Makarem Al-Ghamry, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Dr. Gamil Abdullah, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and a large number of the university leaders, public figures and students.”
