ERU Students Participate in “START Summit” to Conclude the Activities of Social Solidarity Units at Egyptian Universities
Under the auspices of Professor Sherif Fakhry, President of the university, and in line with the belief in the importance of integration between universities and government institutions to build an informed and qualified future generation, a delegation of ERU students participated in the “START Summit,” launched by the Ministry of Social Solidarity to conclude the activities of social solidarity units at universities for the academic year 2024-2025.
The summit was attended by Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, Professor Mohamed El-Okaby, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Strategic Communication and Media, and General Coordinator of Social Solidarity Units at Egyptian Universities, and a wide range of university students and solidarity unit coordinators. The summit aimed to provide distinguished training opportunities for university students within major companies and institutions, in addition to supporting the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among young people.
The summit program included inspiring dialogue sessions, featuring entrepreneurs and successful individuals from various fields. The Faculty of Artificial Intelligence at the Egyptian Russian University participated in the summit with a project that impressed attendees, focusing on developing services for people with disabilities and embodying the integration of technology into community service.
Notably, the project was submitted by Mohamed Assem, a student from Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Wael Badawi. The project features the first smart wheelchair powered by motion sensors that read head movements and move the chair with a simple head gesture.
We extend our sincere thanks to our distinguished students participating in the summit and wish all university students continued excellence.
