Under the patronage of Professor / Dr. Sherif Fakhry, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), and with the support of Professor / Dr. Khaled Tawfik, Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Health and Professor / Dr. Nourhan Al-Dokky, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs, the World Oral Health Day was celebrated within the university campus.

     Within the framework of the university’s keenness to raise awareness on oral and dental health, the faculty, under the supervision of the general coordinator of the celebration, Dr. Amany Amer, organized competitions pertaining to oral health with the participation of students from the university’s various faculties. The winning students were given encouraging prizes, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

     Awareness materials were also distributed containing tips and pieces of advice on how to maintain oral health. In addition, seminars were also held for patients and their companions, who frequently visit the faculty dental clinics, at the outpatient hall and at the patient waiting area, and also for members of the nursing staff and the university workers and security personnel.

     The awareness session tackled various topics that are related to oral health, such as the effect of nutrition on dental health. The participants were also oriented on how to properly care for their teeth, the correct way to use a toothbrush and how to perform dental flossing.

     Many thanks are due to Dr. Nahawand Thabet, a member of FDI, for her ongoing support to the faculty. Thanks are also due to the academic supervisor of the faculty’s scientific association, Professor / Dr. Ghada Al-Zayyat, and the association’s work team, headed by the student / Zeyad Ibrahim, for the effort exerted during the event.
