The Final Day of the “Performance enhancing Drugs, and Dietary Supplements for Athletes: Between Fact and Fiction” Campaign at the Egyptian Russian University
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sherif Fakhry, President of the University, and as part of the university’s societal role and student awareness activities, the awareness campaign on the dangers of performance-enhancing drugs concluded at the Egyptian Russian University.
The campaign aimed to raise students’ and the external community’s awareness of performance-enhancing drugs and their negative effects, educate them on the principles and history of anti-doping in sports, and guide them on safe and proper methods for using dietary supplements to improve athletic performance.
For the final seminar, the university hosted a large group of experts, athletes, and media professionals, including:
– Captain Ahmed Shalaby – Presenter of the “Forma” program and winner of the Best Broadcaster Award for covering bodybuilding championships.
– Captain Ahmed Abdel Latif – Former Egyptian Commando Forces officer who lost his left leg in a military operation. Despite his injury, he never gave up, achieving international championships and becoming a social media influencer and an inspiring role model for youth.
– Captain Mahmoud Hassan – Professional champion in the IFBB PRO (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness), gold medalist and Mr. Universe titleholder. He holds a black belt and a master’s degree in the Wingfight mixed martial arts and self-defense system from the International Federation in Spain. He also won the Thor medal from the USA for completing a 50.5-mile race and received the Golden Shield for Sports Excellence twice from the Arab League.
– Captain Karim Amr Saif El-Din – A dentist who found his passion in bodybuilding, inspiring many to change their lives for the better. He is now a leading fitness trainer.
– Captain Osama Saeed – Bronze medalist at the Benos Classic International Bodybuilding Championship.
– Captain Farouk Kamal – Winner of the Champion of Champions title, a WNBF professional card holder, and first-place winner at the Dubai Muscle Beach competition.
– Captain Abdullah Gamal – A doctor who placed fifth in the World Natural Bodybuilding Championship.
– Captain Ahmed Assem – Winner of the Dubai Pro for Professionals and World Junior Champion 2023.
– Captain Mohamed El-Khatib – An international athlete and certified sports nutrition coach. He has participated in 18 international championships, representing Egypt in seven of them. His career achievements include four gold medals, six silver medals, and four bronze medals.
– Captain Galal Ali – A certified sports nutrition coach, two-time Cairo University bodybuilding champion.
– Captain Ali Azmy – World and Arab champion in weightlifting, first-place winner in multiple Arab championships in Dubai.
The final day witnessed a large turnout of students from various faculties. Discussions covered the phenomenon of prohibited doping from all perspectives, and an open dialogue took place between students and guest athletes in an enthusiastic atmosphere.
Additionally, Pharmacy students contributed research posters highlighting the dangers of performance-enhancing drugs.
