Medical survey for hepatitis B and C viruses, Faculty of Oral & Dental Medicine, Egyptian Russian University.

Based on the keenness of the faculty administration on the importance of spreading health awareness to workers in the medical field about the great risks of viral hepatitis, its transmission methods, how to prevent it, and the importance of taking the protective vaccinations. Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry, President of the Egyptian Russian University, and Prof. Dr. Khaled Tawfiq, Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, on December 12 and 13, 2022, a medical survey was conducted for hepatitis B and C viruses for the fourth-year students before the start of training in clinics, as well as for members of the nursing staff, technicians, and cleaners.
Dr. Amany Amer, responsible for infection control at the college and supervising the campaign, stated that the dental profession is one of the professions which requires direct contact with tissues and oral fluids, including blood and saliva, by members of the medical team. These tissues and fluids carry many germs and viruses that cause diseases, such as hepatitis B and C. This examination is provided by the university administration annually, free of charge and obligatory for all students, before the stage of dealing with patients inside the clinics.
And special thanks to the Arab International Laboratories team, headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ansari, for the fruitful cooperation with the faculty administration.
