Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abd-el-Naby, President of the Egyptian Russian University (ERU), announced that the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology at the university organized a practical scientific visit for the students to the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This activity is based on the university’s belief in the importance of linking academic education with developmental reality, and the role of these visits in developing the skills of university students and expanding their knowledge on how to manage major national projects, ports and international companies, which in turn ensures the graduation of cadres that are qualified to join the modern labor market. The activity took place with the support of Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, with the aim to continuously improve the educational process.
On her part, Dr. Al-Tahera Al-Sayed Hameyah, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology at the ERU, highlighted that the aim of these regular visits for students of the faculty’s different programs is to apply the theoretical curricula to real life. The aim of such activities is to train and educate the students, and to increase their scientific and practical experience about everything new in the fields of factories, companies and major economic zones. She added that the visit was conducted in cooperation with the Investment Expert/ Walid Gamal-el-Deen, Head of Suez Canal Economic Zone. The faculty delegation was received by Captain/ Ahmed Gamal, Vice Chairman of Suez Canal Authority for Southern Region, the team of officials responsible for the region, and Major General/ Ehab Zohdy, Head of Ain Sokhna Port.
The Dean of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology at the ERU asserted that the visit was a very distinguished one for the students as it conveyed to them a spirit of hope for the future, since they closely learnt the smart link between the plans of the various Egyptian ministries and the economic zone. They also learnt about the distinctive facilities provided by the zone: a complete process at one place for local and international investors and companies. The tour also included a unique visit to Ain Sokhna Port, during which the students learnt about the engineering achievement and the ongoing future plans. The Faculty Dean, in addition, pinpointed that, in order to link the academic aspect with practical reality, the tour also included a field visit to the pioneering solar energy company, ELITE Solar, where the students learnt about the latest clean energy technologies.
Dr. Al-Tahera Al-Sayed Hameyah added that Dr. Nehad Hosny Youssef, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community, Environment and Scientific Research Affairs and Delegation Head, presented the ERU shield to the leaders of the Suez Canal Economic Zone as an expression of sincere gratitude, greetings and appreciation for the warm welcome and reception. She also thanked Mr./ Amr Marzouq, General Manager of Industrial Developer Relations in the Economic Zone, and Ms./ Carolin Beshoy from the office of the Vice President of the Zone, for their interest in clarifying many things to the faculty students about the zone, and for discussing ways of cooperation with the ERU, and also for the excellent organization of the visit within the zone.
On their part, the students of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology at the ERU expressed their gratitude for the great benefit which they obtained from the visit, thanking those in charge of managing the Suez Canal Economic Zone for their cooperation in facilitating this visit and for the warm welcome.
Not only do such visits give students hope and positive energy, but they also build in them institutional awareness on how the Egyptian state is moving towards a sustainable future based on knowledge, innovation, and clean energy.
